Just to be clear I am in good terms with Shounic. I just think our channel was positioned in such a way in the comp community with matchmaking coming that it would be the perfect opportunity and timing for both of us.

Also I believe our production value and "professional" feel on the channel as a whole is superior to NISLT's and I made that clear to Shounic, Of course NISLT reach is huge compared to our channel, it's a wonderful opportunity for Shounic and I wish him all the best, his production value is amazing, but I cannot hide that I came out of this a bit hurt not by Shounic but SIN which used that leverage he has to take this series from our channel just 2 weeks after we picked it up.

While I like the larger audience of NISLT, I think Kaneco does have a point that there is a bit of a disconnect between Backcap and the rest of the channel. It would be nice to shoutout tftv and comp.tf at the end of the video so that people that happen upon the video are going to places with more comp focused material instead of looking at stuff on SIN's channel.

Special thanks to Kevinispwn for stepping in for our usual dribbler of a host Sideshow who was at Dreamhack this week. Also, we decided to put Dreamhack Day 2 into next week just by nature of the time it takes us to collect highlights and for Shounic to edit the video itself. Feedback is always appreciated, so feel free to tell us what's up!

Commented on the youtube video, but I'll do it here too. Thanks to shounic for the opportunity to host this, and really... siN is the man for putting something like this on his channel. The channel used to be primarily highlights and stuff from competitive (frag videos, silly comp content, POVs with comms, etc), and it's really great that he's still trying to embrace competitive when he can.

Since it was a golden-cap, and probably meant to appeal to the siN subs who're there for action, the full length of the first clip was okay, since it wrapped up the entire match by definition. The following one was an okay inclusion if it had led to a round winning backcap, but since it was mostly the first 10 secs and the last 15 that mattered, could've cut/sped it up a bit.

The only real complaint I have is still related to the scoreboard section. Please just make some kind of use of the left part. :>

Show Content

(Also, wasn't DH concluded by the time editing stopped? Should've put the rest of the results into the bracket graphic)

Generally a smoother video than last but the content itself might've had to do with that. Shrug!

PENDJI sorry I read your last post but school has been getting busier so I seriously didn't have time to work that out, but don't worry I'll get something like that in the video as soon as I can.

-----

Also for full disclosure, since I gave my word that SIN wouldn't be allowed to change anything, here is what I ended up allowing him to change:

He edited parts of the sound, & anything with the explosions or grunts are his. I told him he couldn't use dumb voice lines so I hope you all have bit more faith in my vision. I have to admit the work he ended up doing did made the video feel better though so it's working out well! Thumbnail was built up off my initial idea but if you liked the thumbnail then I'd say half of the credit goes to him.

Anyways it's been an exhausting weekend so as long as you guys enjoyed the video and can look past all my typos I'm happy, but of course I will improve it as it goes by each week.

Thanks everyone for all the support. And honestly the youtube comments are going to become a big clusterfuck so if you really want to tell me something, here is a good place to leave me feedback.

edit: oh also i didn't get official permission from TFTV to include their logo but i did it anyways since we'd be missing out so badly. if anyone from TFTV could tell me it's chill that'd be great.

The grunts seem really out of place and come like 2 seconds late every time.

I also think that the fade ins/outs of music at the beginning and end of clips are too fast and kind of jarring.

Otherwise awesome as always

I suggest you to add a part in which you tell the upcoming events of the next week, reminding people to come here on teamfortress.tv and give a look at the home of competitive tf2, so that siN's passive subscribers become active users and viewers
It could also work as a wrap-up sentence.

I love the production quality and wide range of topics covered in this show - plus Sideshow's beautiful voice wraps it all together neatly. Please keep it up!

edit: its a cool idea to try and get nislt's subscriber base into tf2 since they are likely the ones interested enough by tf2 to try comp (as much as you'd prefer to deny it) so i support having him as an affiliate. but the grunts and otherwise jokey-type things he added to the video don't fit at all. what attracted me to keep watching this content (that ive now spent 40+ minutes watching back to back) was the clean, polished, professional approach that TF2 deserves. adding big boom explosions and grunts and whatnot makes it pretty bad. also considering the sound mix is supposed to be more of a podcast than anything, i thought the original voice + music mix was great. some people are complaining about quick fade outs of music between segments but i think thats the proper way to do it - it's not jarring at all. it keeps the energy up while waiting for sideshow's voice to come back.

of course take everything i say with a grain of salt im just here to keep watching

KanecoHey all, I loved this video so much I personally reached out to Shounic, he'll be joining the Comp.tf team and will be producing this series for our channel, this gives it much more exposure as our channel has a bigger following and also helps us keep pumping more content regularly for all of you so I think it's a win-win situation for everyone.

Shounic will be producing this series for the channel on his own, this will be a mutual partnership, and I think we just need to iron out some stuff from the feedback received and to adapt to our channel and we will be good to go for the next one. There's great feedback on this thread and after a long talk with him I think we can improve on it a lot and give it a more "professional" feel for the channel.

He expressed me his biggest concern was the time spent going through all the vods and finding the moments / highlights so I would like to know if anyone would be interested in helping out with that? I'll probably set up a slack for the channel and wiki this weekend (been meaning to do that for some time) and we can add up people interested in helping out for this weekly series.

would the only thing needed from community members be helping go through the vods? And should we maybe
pm you here if we were interested?

Wholegraincirloso that siN's passive subscribers become active usersyeah im not sure thats a good thing

It'll happen regardless. Matchmaking is gonna make the gap between public and 6v6/9v9 even smaller, and soon we'll have main pyro/spy/snipers running around acting like siN and Muselk with troll loadouts. I really don't understand why people think it's a good thing, besides the few -good- people that'll switch and join competitive.tf2 properly.

And something like "make sure to tune in on twitch.tv/teamfortresstv if you don't want to miss ESEA finals!".
I would do it for pretty much all the major leagues, showing the schedule of the upcoming week on screen.

for feedback: this week we'll add the plug to future events at the end, and reminding them to go to teamfortresstv.

In other news, I made this out of the extra clips we had from one of the weeks of Backcap, should I make more of these? This is the first time I've tried typography though so yeah I get that it's not that good.

SIN likes to publish videos together but his other video is taking forever or something so here you can all have the early access. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdWfC4YangA

this week took a little longer because of 60 FPS HYPE.

also because it's starting to become hard to get good feedback, and etc, i've made some google forms for the people of teamfortress.tv to get stuff to me.

if you wanna volunteer: http://goo.gl/forms/HZFlKrpNgm
if you wanna give anonymous feedback: http://goo.gl/forms/kpEvigiYDS

edit: also please don't troll the google forms, if you do i'm just going to stop looking at them.

Just watched the latest episode.

I'm not sure if it is too late now, but you may want to tell sIN to add an annotation to fix a typo.

At 8:50, "looknig" should be "looking".

Everything else is amazing - I've filled out the Google Form without any trolling. :p

retrogradewill next backcap cover esea/ugc hl roster shakeups? there are a few big rosters showing up in plat hl and so far the esea roster shakeups look interesting

we could, but I personally don't know where all the HL news is and the other people in the team don't know either. And the HL situation is hard to really settle in a satisfying way. There's like 30 different opinions on what I should do with HL, for example there's people who say HL should be part of the main video, then there's those who say HL should be in a separate video. It's pretty hard to conclusively figure out which one of those opinions are more 'correct' or 'better', and considering issues like if they're just a vocal minority etc etc makes it a really really tough thing to work out.

Besides that though, is there anyone who is very integrated with the HL scene? I talked to some people before about HL but I feel it would work out better with someone who really understands the scene well.
