Max Frames Not Working?

Hey, I installed Chris MaxFrames graphics config, and I usually get about 150 -200 fps while using normal low settings in game, I installed Max and it did not really help much now I get like 150-230 at max, the graphics look toned down in game so I installed it correctly, when I used Max Frames before I use to get 500-600 fps it was insane. Someone please help

I reccomend not using chris' configs as they are really outdated cvars, comanglia or rhapsodys configs are both solid. As a fyi, preloading has been removed so some cvars/configs may not work as well anymore.

Ok, I am running rphapsodys and its great, but it maxes my fps at 300, is this something that I can raise? or maybe fps_max 0? Or will it screw everything up?

fps_max 0 is no limit, so you can get 4000000000000000 fps on fpx_max 0

you can just edit your post so you dont double post next time. It usually isnt a good idea to uncap your fps because (dont quote me on this) physics can get weird and if you dont have a 120/144 hz monitor youre going to get tearing. However if youre constantly hitting 300 move that cap because it causes a ton of input lag

I've never seen physics issue in Source from high framerates, though it happens in other engines. I believe this is because physics are tied to the tickrate rather than framerate, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I have heard from multiple sources that above 900 fps tf2's timing starts getting screwed up, rockets shoot faster and that sort of thing. Unless you have a reasonably close to top of the line pc you won't have that issue at all, and at worst you'll have it on a local server in which case just set fps_max to 800 or something.

Whenever I play a local jump map I have to cap my fps because around 900 fps everything just starts moving to fast. Like the game is in fast forward(though I think the timers are still right)

Not really related to the thread but the only issue I have with high fps is extreme stuttering when I get over 1000 fps

RhapsodyTo be honest, even if you're running well, I'd recommend capping your FPS at something like 60, 66, 120, or 132, in order to reduce screen tearing or input lag. With high FPS, you'll more likely notice FPS drops since your computer won't be able to manage that amount in every area. If you set an FPS cap that's a lower value than what you typically get, this won't happen.

nothing about what u said is accurate

Yeah, that's bad knowledge that got passed around, apparently... Thanks for telling me.
