Need a Gaming Mouse

First, sorry if this has been posted before, but I think my case is different.

I currently use a wireless Logitech mouse, a Wireless Mouse M510.

I want to get a mouse for gaming.

My budget is 40 dollars top, if I can find a good mouse for 30ish dollars, it would be great.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR:
1. Extra buttons on the side
2. A good scroll

Everything else would be bonuses.

What would you recommend?

I believe you can get one of the good ones stated here for your budget.
Also, the SteelSeries Sensei is decent, the accel doesn't affect it THAT much.

What's wrong with the G500 ? I've used one for months and have no complaints.

It has positive acceleration that can't be turned off, so in purirst terms it doesn't have a "perfect" sensor.

I have a Deathadder, pretty sure it's not '13, but still I enjoy it. I've had it for maybe two years though, and last month my M1 kept double clicking on occasion, but that seems to have sorted itself out somehow.

My fiance has a wireless RAT9 that we both like. He just got kind of screwed on his, had to use sticky tack to keep something in place and it occasionally flips its shit and the sensor won't respond properly. If he could do it over again, he said he would have gotten a wired RAT9 or a Deathadder.

Huh. Never noticed any accel. What's 'positive' accel anyway?

All of Zowie's mice are too expensive, as with razer.

That leaves the g400.

How good is the scroll for the g400? And what's the deal with the cord?

The G500's sensor is not placed in the center, so it gets positive accel.

Look at this for example

http://static.trustedreviews.com/94/145422/4037/13095-img4767s.jpg

Usually, the mouse sensor would be placed in the center. This causes the mouse to move faster/slower in a vertical direction.

The G400 tends to die if you yank the cord too much/hard. So the fix for that is have weight on a part of the cord to the point where you don't yank it when you flick or something.

apacwhat's the deal with the cord?

it's really thin and bad quality, most g400 users end up having problems with it: such as the mouse randomly disconnecting at times.

I'm not sure I understand. If you don't turn the mouse, the off-center sensor should have no effect.

My G9x died and I'm getting a G400s under warranty, can you elaborate on this? Where should I be putting the weight on the cord? I've also read about people hot gluing the cord to the mouse body. I'm excited to be getting a better mouse than what I had, but I'm nervous about all of the cord complaints.

I'm pretty sure most people who don't play with 40cm+/360 turn their mouse.

The G500 has a laser sensor. The sensor itself has inherent (albeit minor) positive acceleration. The placement on the mouse has nothing to do with it. Any mouse will have supposed/apparent "weird" acceleration if you don't move it in a self-consistent manner.

Positive acceleration means that faster mouse speeds are more-faster onscreen than they should be than slow mouse speed are. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1811521/sdf2f.png A technical term for mouse acceleration is "mouse ballistics".

The budget that you got yourself there is pretty low, if the Logitech G400 is the ONLY option, then try saving up a couple extra bucks, Logitech G400 is great, don't get me wrong.

But if I were you, I would choose a mouse over its quality, reviewes, etc' rather than over its price.

Explore all your options out there, you don't want to regret buying a mouse after a month.

How about you get a collection of "actual market price" sources for both mice then, instead of just posting up a single retailer picked for low cost and another that's selling at the g400's base market value?

Of course razer themselves sells them for like $70 but why the fuck would anybody buy them when they could get them much cheaper somewhere else? If the kid's judging his mice by how much they cost (which he shouldn't), might as well have relevant pricing instead of the msrp

Razer is overrated.

I guess they made a good mouse, the deathadder, but i personnaly feel it's too light.

Iv had a mouse and a keyboard from them and the quality of the materials they use is very low.

As an exemple, i think the Razor Blackwidow is poorly made. (Cheap plastic for a 100$ keyboard)

Would not recommend.

razer isn't known for making nice keyboards, anyone that is willing to spend $100 or higher on a keyboard should go for a nice mechanical. certainly not one from razer or steelseries etc. and you cant really say razer is overrated...no brand is really since it's all personal preference. you either like the product or you don't.
