#4 TF2 update for 10/28/21 in TF2 General Discussion

Sorry it's taken so long to get RHI going, literally right after I came back from the toilet this update had already waltzed out the door, and then Marci in Dota 2 was about to probably literally kick some doors down. Marci's splash ad was a bit of a mini-fiasco holding things up because not only did my first attempt to slap it on my YouTube channel for posterity suffer from dropped frames (which made HandBrake eat the audio from them to compensate), only after did I get attempt #2 up did Valve realize they made a string typo. I was tempted to not fix it because my poor 3570K had been through enough already at that point but I figured I might as well do the effort now instead of later.

In any case, should be pretty much caught up now. For the most part it's one of those WYSIWYG sorts of light updates when you go have a look at the GameTracking diff for this one.

Valve- Bug fixes to Steam Datagram Relay (SDR) support. This is currently in limited testing. We will have more info about this when it rolls out more broadly.

Rumor has it:

- As described above, a fair bit of Steam Datagram system piping has been buried into the game, including the "sdr" console command suite from Dota 2
- The system is currently actively used in both Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for connections to Valve's server infrastructure, and is also available for 3rd-party game developers to implement too

#6 TF2 update for 10/8/21 (10/9/21 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion
GritomaI was playing TF2, noticed the update, closed the game, installed the patch and rebooted. Upon reopening the game, I was greeted by a Discord 404 (???) overlay that covered the rest of the game and made it unplayable. Forcing Discord closed through task manager and rebooting both programs seems to fix whatever issue I was having.

I'm guessing I just found a new and interesting Dick Sword conflict with TF, I'd like to know if anyone else can replicate these problems, but I really don't know where the two interact.

Not a TF-specific or update-related fault, and as such will not get carriage in RHI. But as long as your client version in User Settings is "100789", the overlay should behave properly. Should bad overlay behavior persist, restart your system.

Rumor has it:

- FACEIT players will want to be aware of scattered reports of being unable to start the game after this update. Exit the FACEIT client for now and you should be able to launch again. (of course, this means that until they take a peek at what's gone on with their client, you won't be able to play on the platform yet)

- As both /u/Haaselh0ff and /u/DankMemeRipper1337 have pointed out on reddit, the list of Basalt changes mentioned above is actually not included in this update, because Basalt wasn't updated

- For the peekers out there, /u/Elcheer took two screenshots of the "re-tired" Dust 2 middle from both T spawn and mid doors

- This is the description for the bbno$, u mad! Music Kit: "bbno$ formulates 'the' toxic gamer anthem, u mad! Are u mad? LOL get good scrub. Research shows if you play with this Music Kit equipped you'll immediately go from Silver to Global."
- If you're not entirely sold on the kit, try previewing it at CS:GO Stash to help you decide if you'd want to buy it

- A bit of plumbing has been inserted for week 4 through 8 missions for Operation Riptide

- If you're stopped from joining a Private Queue because you're not a part of a Steam Community group, you'll now be told "You are not a member of this Steam Group. Visit their page to join and try the Queue Code again."

- If you'd like, you can view lots of map and Guardian bot related logic changes scattered throughout this update here. There's also a fresh shot of translations, which are made possible as always with the efforts of Translators Like You - Thank You

Haven't been keeping up to date with the whole temp file problem. Do I want this on or off to avoid whatever issues the last update brought?

If you wish to KEEP temporary files on game exit, including sprays from community servers, set tf_delete_temp_files to 0.
If you wish to PURGE temporary files on game exit, no action is required (default is 1).
