ShwanDoesn't anyone realize that if NATF2 goes away those same people will flood here, and it will be the same thing. What we need is an admin that is willing to ban large amounts of people that are a nuisance to the community, AND have the wherewithal to not care if a vocal minority gets upset over it.

quick update- i got the wrong ram it turns out, and instead of rma-ing it i'm gonna buy a new lga1155 motherboard that will accept it so i can get an i5 to put in it. i don't imagine this will cause much of a delay, but we'll see!

so i'm kinda leaning towards buying a new mobo, an i5, and some drives for the server so i can be 100% sure it won't be stressed running a dm server and other services
if you see any cheap deals on:
- lga1155/1156 mobos
- core i5s
- hard drives (10k rpm pref)
- raid controllers (3ware pref, 4 channel)
please ping me on steam and let me know! i'm shooting for november at the latest to have this racked and online, but since i can't catch every single discount it'd be nice to have some extra sets of eyes! :)

smakersI think it's a cool idea and all, but it's kind of silly to post about it before you even have permission to make it happen. Seems like it'll be really easy to become unable to deliver on the promise.
I do hope it works out, though.
i knew i was allowed to do the voip element, i just needed clarification for the gameserver. i AM allowed to run a gameserver, i just need better hdd's and probably a more powerful cpu at some point which could be tough because the mobo has a weird socket (939, obscure amd silliness...). if all else fails i'll just swap the mobo for an lga1155/56 at some point :)

hookyPut SOAPDM on there and use it as a DM server when it's not reserved.
i'd have to ask my supervisor if game servers are ok, but if they are i'll sure do that for you guys :)

hey guys,
so with my job i get a free colocated server and i've decided that i'm going to semi-donate it to the community. it's a sun ultra 20 with freebsd (preferably) 8GB of G.SKILL ram, an amd opteron 2200 @ 2.8ghz, 2 320gb drives in raid0 (for now), and it will be hosting teamspeak/vent/mumble servers which i will bring online when someone requests them.
essentially if you don't have a server or just need one for fucking around you can use mine for free, provided you fill out and submit the application that is currently being worked on. the server is hosted on the first plan here.
it should be online within a month, and i'll be sure to let anyone interested in using it know when it is!
