#7 Vote and get MLG to host a 6v6 division. in TF2 General Discussion
kalhoyou can enter in random email addresses

they don't verify them

they verified mine :S

I think what he means is that the vote tally still goes up even if you don't verify. But they do send you a verification email.

#4 Vote and get MLG to host a 6v6 division. in TF2 General Discussion

Used the same email address and deleted cookies, still increased the vote count 4 times.

That being said, getting it higher than dota2 and CS would be nice.

#4 poll feature in Site Discussion
Saltysally1I think anyone featured in the streams thing should have a pole feature, as well as viewers being able to rate the different streams if that isn't already possible

Yes #3 cyber poles will be the best thing that ever happened to streams.

nope unless there's no switching from the west coast to london, pretty sure you can never actually reach the speed of light going in a circle around earth anyways since it's going to have to bounce/reflect off a cable and reduce the speed. 8750km from LA to london, 29.17ms at the speed of light. I figure it's going to end up being more like 44 ms without switching delays/routing from routers (using .67 as a coefficient). I really doubt companies will bother to make long dedicated lines instead of routing to multiple centers so the switching delay should always push it over.

edit: #16, the wave is what carries the signal, electron speed isn't the limiting factor in the cables. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_electricity. Signal still travels ~66% of the speed of light.

Fiber optics doesn't fix that though. That is the main bottleneck in computing but we have to wait for different breakthroughs for that.

#2 feature requests to be implemented in Site Discussion
var lbar = $('#inner-col-left');
var rbar = $('#inner-col-right');
window.onscroll = function () {
var ylen = $(window).height();

if( rbar.height() > ylen || lbar.height() > ylen) {
lbar.css('position','static');
rbar.css('position','static');
lbar.css('top', 170);
rbar.css('top', 170);
}
else {
var offset = 170 - window.pageYOffset;
if(offset < 0)
offset = 0;
lbar.css('position','fixed');
rbar.css('position','fixed');
lbar.css('top', offset + "px");
rbar.css('top', offset + "px");
}
};

fml since the right bar is 727 pixels and my window is 726 pixels. at least i have my own greasemonkey script that forces it to float.

edit: actually, it'd be better to limit the number of streams. your old cfg didn't have a stream limit, but I think it'd be better to limit 10 streams or reduce others to 8 like community news.

#8 google fiber in Off Topic
WithADanceNumberI really can't wait until fiber is mainstream enough that it could go multi-continental. Imagine good pings internationally for all players. Games like tf2 could work with just one league.

Cable type is barely the limiting factor in ping. You realize that the speed of light's not going to magically increase, it's the coefficient through the medium. Pretty sure the main reason why fiber optics is better DL rate is because it's easier to tell the difference between high and low with light vs electricity, but I'm sure EE majors know better than I do.

I'm not sure which of the best of the best cables is better (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080822183553AAqkj9m I'm sure there's better sites) but the generic cables google's probably using is probably less than 10ms difference (out of my ass, didn't do the math).

You actually could until they removed it.

gotfrag people could +frag their own posts. It's fine. Also, once people are fragged, they're fragged. It's the gotfrag system, not the natf2/tf2pug system.
