Please, PLEASE stop recommending the Blue Snowball to people who like to play video games. It's designed to be used for recording podcasts and instruments, not relatively soft voices from a foot or two away. It will record those voices, but it'll also record a bunch of background noise. The modmic is half the price, and sounds much better than a snowball sitting on the desk(the snowball will only sound better if it's sitting really close to your mouth, but then you have a giant ball in your face).
To be fair atmo, the Carcharias does sound pretty good. Does it sound as good as 80$ headphones? No. But it's definitely at the top compared to most gaming headsets plus it's really comfortable. The only issues I've really heard about with the Carcharias are just build quality issues where the mic or one of the earcups goes out.
Try disabling the per-game profiles or whatever they're called in Logitech Gaming Software. I remember that causing weird issues with the G500.
Kirby, are you sure it wasn't AMD Cool and Quiet? That lowers clockspeeds to reduce heat without increasing fan noise.
Make sure you have the right power plan selected when you play games. If you're on Balanced or Power Saver your CPU will down clock and kill your fps.
Also, make sure Intel Turbo Boost is enabled. This might be in the BIOS or it might be in some Intel or Dell settings application inside Windows, but even if your CPU isn't getting down clocked 2.4 GHz is still pretty slow.
Assuming you don't have fps_max set to 100 it sounds like your CPU could be a bottleneck.
Try renaming your cfg folder to like "cfg_old" then start TF2 and see if it works. If that doesn't work, try the same thing for your hud with "resource" and "scripts"
If none of that works, back up your cfg, resource, scripts, maps, and addons folders, as well as all of your demos then delete your "team fortress 2" folder. Don't worry about it re-downloading TF2, it'll just pull a fresh copy from your GCFs. Start TF2 from a clean slate without copying over any of your old stuff yet. If it works, start adding back your backed up folders one by one until you start crashing again.
We used to always start the old ones around 8 EST on Fridays and Saturdays, and I'm assuming this will be something similar.
PQL CA and CTF are ludicrously fast and insanely fun, plus you only need one person with premium to host a 6 man premium/private game.
G400 is one of the best mice on the market, just be aware that the cord goes out fairly often on them. It's not a big deal since Logitech is REALLY lenient on replacements(i.e. you don't even need to ship your broken mouse back, they just ship you a new one).
He's got good aim and he's a funny guy, just gets down on himself sometimes. If he can get a bit more confidence in his play I'm sure he could compete on a playoff team.
I think you can just use MGE mod and it works for the ammomod maps(with ammomod rules, not MGE rules).
If you guys are new and just need a server to use for a bit you could probably use the #tf2mix/atf2.org server here:
