#41 ESEA Invite S14 in TF2 General Discussion

The only time I ever survived a pub match on metalworks was when I was pocketing mangachu.

#7 any ideas for a new mic? in TF2 General Discussion

Why everyone recommends waiting is beyond me. Are you expecting him to just stop playing comp until some mic manufacturer decides to release something for 50$ ?
I think I'm missing something here because I don't see how that makes any sense.

@OP, there is the blue snowflake that is around your price range IIRC. I use a yeti myself and it's amazing so the grandson may be viable. I don't know anything about it though. I heard that the snowball is good a lot though, so if you could step that price up a bit that might be a quality solution. But really, you could also get a metric fuckton of modmics (and by that I mean two modmics) for the same money so that's always worth a try. You have nothing to lose.

#11 TF2 on the verge of being unplayable in Q/A Help

No seriously, get 7. Also RAM is cheap nowadays, so are core2quads. Then there is Chris' config of course which delivers you the poop grafics of your choice along with more fps.
If you can step it up to a little more than 100 bucks I would go with a cheap quadcore and 2-4 additional gigs of ram. Then you just have to pirate download torrent copy buy 64bit windows 7 and you should be good to go.

#43 Fyi, the 24" Asus 144Hz monitor is on sale ($270) in Hardware

Lol, after buying the grafics card I started searching around for good 120+hz monitors. I bought what I fond to be the best one, came back here and realized it was the one this thread talks about.

-I pay 320€ for it :|

#28 internet in TF2 General Discussion
lexs100mb/6mb for 35$ including cable TV because fuck you NA

You could have more for the same money.

Why are so many people who happen to have good internet such dicks? I was vegetating at 5mb for years until I happened to find Based Unitymedia and now I never have to worry about internet speed again. No reason to go all "my e-penis is bigger" on people who just happen to have shitty ISPs in their region. Because really 90% of ISPs are shitty.

Well I'm German so all this is kind of out of question for me. I think for that price+shipping I can buy monitors of similar quality off Amazon right away. However I'm not even concerned about spending extra money on a 178° monitor because if I go with my 3 120s + 1 possibly huge HQ monitor, that huge one will be positioned so that I am always looking at it anyway when shopping or editing. Also that one wouldn't even necessarily have to be 120hz.

Odissiusthe301stspartanI don't know about that. View angle is always a really weird thing to complain about for me. I have all my monitors adjusted to my angle so I always look straight at them. If needed I can rotate them slightly, even more so once I got them all wall-mounted. Right now I would have to move around my table to have a significant color shift on the monitors. And I still believe that running one game on monitors with different refresh rates is a bad idea. What I might do is throw away all my monitors and replace them by my old 15" CRT use three 120s for gaming and other purposes and another maybe 16:10 one for watching movies and stuff where I change position a lot and need all that viewing angle. I also do editing, photoshop, 3d and such so I might just use the 4th one for that.
You should get an Overlord 27" 1440p 120Hz IPS monitor ($555) for your editing/photoshop/movies :p.

I think you can use the shopping cart to estimate shipping cost. I am still waiting on mine (the next batch of monitors with the new bezel is supposed to be arriving mid-May).

Wtf am I looking at? Did some nerd lock himself in his basement where he assembles monitors which he sells on his website?

2cthe301stspartanWhy buy three? 120 hz monitors are generally lower picture quality than something like an IPS. There's no real point in having a 120 hz panel unless it's for gaming use.
I don't see why a 120hz should be of lower imagie quality thatn a 60hz, except of course if it is equally priced, which none I found is.

I want 3 because I am going to use them together for playing as well as other purposes. And to have my games neatly going over all 3 monitors, I want them to be identical. I also heard that nvidia surround is picky about monitors so I opt for them all to be equal. Especially considering that two of the three would be of a different hz rate than the center one. I don't think that would work out well.

The panel technology for high response displays is different than that for high image quality displays. The difference in image quality on my 120hz and my Ultrasharp are massive. The viewangles are also generally awful, I can't lean back and watch a show on my 120hz without the image being dark as fuck for example. I would suggest one 120hz and two Ultrasharps if you want a three monitor setup.

#16 Anyone have a suggestion for games like AoE/c 2? in Off Topic
Cro0Ked_i seem to recall there being an age of empires like game (i don't think it was civ, may have been AoE but later) where you could research nukes and go to the space age??? anyone remember this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_Earth it was this nvm, but this game was pretty sick from what i remember

Empire Earth is great. My number 2 favorite old school RTS after RoN, probably biggest time span in any of them and it's also very competitive (lol what?). Very cool to play with friends. It's also like 5€/$ if you really are to buy it. EE2 is good too with some useful features that EE doesn't have because it is a dinosaur but I prefer the original gameplay-wise.

Empire Earth 3 is C&C4 level of garbage, stay away as far as you can by all means.
