I think a good way of making the gamemode less stalematey is to make the points harder to defend and make the time limit only 5 min per point. This way teams can't just sit there but at the same time they'll be able to do something when they do push due to the difficulty the defending team will have. Tailoring towards offclasses (but not to the point where the game is slowed down) should also be something that's encouraged.

This is the sort of thing Valve probably wouldn't put in because it is just too easy/obvious to grief with.
I think the hurting idea could still work but only if it happened to the soldier whipping, and he would have reduced healing like on the escape plan so he can't just tank the self damage with a medic.

War with Valve. Every day they refuse to listen to our beliefs.
We have done everything right. We are merely using our code to make a gamemode that's actually fun to play competitively. There's no harm in that.
What's important is that the people playing matchmaking are victims.
Every 6 months this site has to deal with Valve trolling us with their "rebalances"
If you want to SUPPORT out cause, you have to buy TFTV Premium.
If we get enough people buying TFTV Premium, this site will grow and we will be able to hire game designers that can help us fix TF2.
Maybe in Valve HQ eventually
My people don't have to face this game dying any longer, we must stop this great evil called Valve.

On a serious note though it makes me laugh that these are the people who hack. I'm surprised some of them can turn on a computer let alone download hacking software.

Connection failed after 4 retries issue

KreshOriginally what I though the problem was:
When I queue to play casual it mostly works okay until it tries to connect me to an already started game. After a couple of seconds of trying to connect I get the message that "Connection failed after 4 retries" and a window if I want to abandon the game or try to connect again. If I try again, the same thing happens.
That's why I decided to use the command "tf_matchmaking_join_in_progress 0", but it resets after every game to 1 and even then it barely even works because TF2 still tries to put me in ongoing games. I can't play casual with friends because they get put in the games and I can't and it's really frustrating.
But then I talked with someone who has the same problem and he says it actually happens when the game tries to put us in Stockholm servers and I kinda agree. It makes sense because the "tf_matchmaking_join_in_progress 0" command doesn't work. We are both from East Europe and I don't know if this might be an issue. Could specific IPs actually be banned in these servers?
I posted this on reddit and Steam Forums and I barely got any responses and this issue still persists.
I would appreciate some help.
Try typing "retry" into console. It usually lets you connect after that.
