#664 Comanglia's Config / FPS Guide in Customization
spundarcestabbyI've been told cl_setupallbones should be set to "1" not "0", as "0" can cause problems with hit registration...what's the default?
The default is "0", as stated by valve's developer wiki page on the list of TF2 console commands.

EDIT: But yes, you are correct that "0" can cause hit registration issues. Setting to "1" will drop FPS though, so you have to decide if you want higher FPS, or if you want more consistent hitreg.

Thanks for the reply :)

Would you mind providing a source or some info on the testing?

If that's true, I'll definitely go with the better hitreg (I think this cvar gives just a few frames at most)--after all, isn't the point of good FPS essentially making sure your shots hit?

#98 Sigafoo and RGL.gg presents - Uncle Dane vs Stabby in TF2 General Discussion
KairustabbyMaybe there are some things for you to be positive about here despite your qualms...no need to a downer, eh?
Yeah! Like... um... uhhh... I got nothin

Edit: The absolute best case scenario of pushing the "new format" this hard is fragmenting an already small community and doing nothing for the current competitive scene as a whole, so please, do explain.

People can play multiple formats. Please name one person that is planning to quit 6's or HL for Prolander.

If anything, this will draw fresh players to comp, then they'll inevitably see the shining truth that Prolander is "garbage" and convert to 6's, right?

#29 Sigafoo and RGL.gg presents - Uncle Dane vs Stabby in TF2 General Discussion

These reactions seem pretty harsh.

It's TF2, it's something new, and some of us will have a lot of fun, maybe not you. It's perfectly okay to have a dismissive opinion, but I think there's some gratuitous rudeness here--sigafoo has invested a lot of effort into this and it's because he's passionate about a game we all enjoy. Maybe there are some things for you to be positive about here despite your qualms...no need to a downer, eh?

#2 g403 wireless issue in Hardware

It's a bug in the old firmware with the Surface Calibration feature. Updating the firmware or disabling SC should fix it.

#18 Cross Game Sensitivity Converter/Calculator in Off Topic

Best tool--and I really don't mean to be a smartass:
https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/jftqmkxs9wyajzhbz5yz.jpg

Use with your mouse pad to measure the inches you must move your mouse to perform a 360 in one game, then adjust sensitivity in the other game till you get it to match.

I know nobody likes to spend 5 minutes on something tedious, but it's really not much more difficult, and none of the calculators will be exact; honestly, it's worth checking if they got it right if you used one.

#271 Quake Champions Closed Beta in Other Games

For people struggling with FPS, the LOD tweak makes a huge difference--doubled my FPS from 30-40 to 60-80!

Set it up the same way you do in TF2:

#372 yttrium's competitive viewmodels in Customization
AttendantYttrium, is there a way you can remove the Spy's Invis Watch / Dead Ringer hand, but keep the meter?

I've seen that happen alot of times when I played, but it wasn't consistent, and appeared randomly when I switched weapons while I had the watch out.

Thank you for this tool.

This mod, which makes the DR smaller and farther from your crosshair, does that on certain servers.

#12 So, why are Zowie mice popular? in Hardware

Pro: Nice cords, comfy shapes, more or less well-built.

Con: Very high button latency, problems like mouse input latency at different DPI's in many models, not the best sensors, no software (though this is a sell, it prevents firmware updates to address the issues each release inevitably has, and limits customization), inferior mouse button switches to Logitech and Razer.

#11 Hard Mouse Pads VS Soft Mouse Pads in Hardware

Soft pads can create acceleration issues with many sensors.

#16 Making tf2 look nicer without dropping frames in Customization
foszstabbyHighest quality textures (mat_picmip -1) give equal or superior frames. Most GPU-based settings like anti-aliasing and filtering won't give any gains by disabling or reducing quality either--you can try boosting whatever settings in your graphics driver suite to max and see how it goes without taking much of a hit, since TF2 is CPU-bottlenecked at almost all settings.

Remember to benchmark with timedemo after each tweak if you care to measure their impact objectively :)

hmm for some reason when i use mat_picmip -1 (i usually use 2) my game stutter like really alot, do you know anything about this? thx

edit : i have a toaster pc

If your GPU is really old relative to your CPU you could start to bottleneck on that side.

#4 Display driver stops working randomly when in game in Customization

Replacing your DisplayPort cable is a good bet (a replacement from the reputable blue jeans cable fixed my 144hz/gsync monitor problems https://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/dvi-cables/index.htm )--the power cable could also be the problem.

These are definitely great suggestions, too:

sa3lence_I do not know the fix, but maybe, have you tried checking if all the cables inside your computer are correctly connected and your graphics card is placed in the right spot properly?
Also try reinstalling the drivers, downloading the latest ones from your vendors website.
