The biggest whitelist unbanning event brought in how many new players exactly? Barrier of entry seems the same as ever to me.

Not to mention that most remaining banned weapons aren't really unlocks that create an entirely new playstyle for the class (sydney sleeper/soda popper/quick fix/vaccinator/dragon's fury are the only one's I would count as something entirely different from stock gameplay). I seriously seriously doubt that players don't join competitive because the secondary or melee they want to use the most is banned.

i absolutely guarantee you if you asked most casual players what's the biggest barrier to entry within competitive tf2, there answer would be either "I can't play my main class full time" or "I don't want to play 5cp all the time" (ignore viaduct), not that their specific unlock is banned. Pushing for a more open whitelist at the expense of competitive players enjoyment of the game doesn't make any sense because in the end you'll still end up banning shit that is absolutely game-breaking but theoretically may make more classes viable full time like the disciplinary action or wrangler, and this class/map barrier to entry will still exist for newcomers. (note: I am in no way advocating we unban shit that's blatantly broken)

also i challenge u to find a casual scout main who's actually like "oh wow bonk is unbanned now in competitive now i'm going to try it because that one weapon ban was the only thing that was holding me back !!"

For as bad as ugc can be the one thing they do really well are the polls they have after every season.

Basically, a google form goes out via email that lets players vote on things like maps(scale 1-5 do you like it), unlocks(ban or unban worthy?), and just general things about the league. Admins later post the data and sort it by div (steel/silver/plat).

The whole process is really good because there’s so much transparency and because its a good way of surveying ugc player opinions. While I personally think ugc admins have made....questionable decisions after collecting the data it is miles better than all this behind-the-scenes shenanigans that go on here, where it’s unclear how admins come to this conclusion and the community consensus is unclear as well. It also gives a lot of power to whoever’s the loudest poster here on tftv, whereas everybody that plays in esea/etf2l/ozfortress obviously doesnt necessarily post often but their opinions regarding maps/unlocks/whatever still matter.

i've spilled entire glasses of orange juice on my keyboard before and honestly all i did was wash it completely so nothing would stick and just let it airdry for a shitton of time, and it still works perfectly. honestly if you disconnect it and leave it out overnight to dry and you still find things glitching you could try the whole dunk it rice thing to make sure it's dried out completely.

idk, in my experience people know ugc waaaay more than esea. i remember hellbent posting a little whiles back that putting “ugc plat roamer” garnered way more viewers than “invite roamer”. most people dont know ugc 6’s is a joke

warmtic has awful optimization (i lose 100 fps by looking at the truck lol)

check if you have a file called hudanimations and just comment anything out that looks like it changes color on damage

oh also every update that lowers the skill ceiling of med, like scout speed buff, regen buffs etc.

valve just needs to accept that people ain't gonna play med in pubs regardless lol, those buffs don't change much (and i still don't get healed as scout in pubs ...)
