You do not have to fracture the community. Assuming the people in this thread are correct, just make the changes to advanced division that the majority of it's player base wants to see.
I could understand at the beginning, the current limitations of the faceit platform force you towards a more liberal player selection, and you maybe want to try something different to increase the amount of high level pugs that go on, but it seems like it's only done the opposite.
I think faceit is a major success for the lower levels, as it gives a good platform for less experienced players, whether that's never played comp before, or a few seasons of ucg/open. At the higher levels, it seems there is a very clear desire from people for a more "exclusive" pug experience.
I don't think this is an inherently bad thing. It puts more importance on pugs for a less experienced individual who maybe does not get picked often in a system where fat kids exist, which also happens to fall fairly close in line with the whole competitive nature that faceit is trying to push in the first place. The current faceit system actually favors someone like me, who does not pug often and usually gets fatkidded because of it, but I can realize the displeasure of the majority of the user base at the top end, and understand where they are coming from.
