#34 If the competitive tf2 community was a video game in TF2 General Discussion

Mustard would be someone you recruit to your team in a possible ending to the game.

Like in the alternate story where you get second in IM because you'd rather chance losing than cut your friend, ArnoldTheArmadillo17, for up and coming legend yz48 (yz50's younger brother).

You get second in the final. Your whole team quits, and Arnold, despite being shit all season has a breakout performance in the final, and betrays you by taking a spot on b4nny's team. He becomes a minor villain, who you can either reconcile things with or challenge to a boxing match at the next lan, with fzero as the referee, and mason as the ring-girl.

Your only shot at getting into invite is to put together a roster and get voted into invite. You get a solid 5, but can't find a 6th - and when all hope is lost, Mustard rises.

#12 shade raids the wrong person in Videos

Shade is too soft and innocent to leave the suburbs of twitch. Also, how many fucking doors does he have in the room he's in? Why does he have so many doors? There's at least three doors in that room.

#62 Is scout too strong? in TF2 General Discussion

I've been out of it for a bit, but scout was still the strongest class when soldiers ran shotguns. Fat slow-moving class with shotgun vs small race-car class with better shotgun...

The demo nerfs let scout get away with more, while taking extra heals. The random medic move-speed buff didn't help either.

Also, a lot of these newer maps are scout paradise. That, and people (overall) have honestly just got better at playing/abusing the class over the years. A couple years ago there were like 4 good invite scouts and the other ones ran in straight lines and didn't air-strafe.

#84 Invite players in Open? in TF2 General Discussion

Sorry, but what's an "invite level" player, and how would you determine that on paper? Anyone who played in invite (lol)? Are you gonna base it on how recent their time in invite was? How well they did?

When I played in open, we played against plenty of ex-invite/IM players, and a good number of them were pretty bad/washed up/worse than people in open. I don't think I was ever like "omg, we will never beat that team because so-and-so played in invite."

If you're good, you're good. If you're a threat, you're a threat. If you're getting bodied by 5 invite players offclassing, you're gonna get bodied just as bad by a top open team with no invite players.

If this game actually paid its players, you might have a case. It doesn't. TF2 players are in it for the fun. If I'm an "invite level player," and I want to play tf2 with my friends, and I don't want to pay 85 dollars, or practice my dick off, or worry about roster changes and cuts, I'm gonna play in open. It's not my fault if my friends and I are better at the game than you and yours. Your lack of experience or ability shouldn't prevent me from being able to play with people I want to play with, especially not in a game where I'm probably losing money to play. The open prize is tiny, btw, so the notion that people are doing it "just for the money" and committing several nights a week for a couple months just to make what a part time worker makes in a couple days is pretty silly.

If you're not getting beneficial practice against that team... practice against another team.

#12 Tips for maincalling? in TF2 General Discussion
NurseyYou making a bad call and then your team following through is the easiest and fastest way to learn how to make good calls in the future.

^^^^^^^^^This.

It's better for the strat to fail than it is to fail the strat. It's not a matter of you always being right or being bossy. You can still be open minded. Objections, discussions, and trying it different ways can come later on - just make sure you actually do try your team's ideas in later scrims and not just say you will.

Definitely don't tilt. Be a good listener to the other comms - if you're not listening, your calls are based on bullshit, and you're a bad main-caller.

#50 ice cream in Off Topic
Lunacidei love mint ice cream, what do you recommend sildeezy?

I'm gonna be real with you, mint isn't something I typically go for, so I'm not that well versed.

That said, Graeter's and Jeni's both make a Mint Chocolate Chip flavor, and I've yet to really go wrong with anything from either of them. Graeter's is gonna be a more traditional take on it (minus their unique chocolate chips - they basically just pour molten chocolate into the ice cream as they make it, and it hardens into chunks that range from normal chocolate chip size to enormous).

Slightly different, but I've actually heard good things about Haagen-Dazs Peppermint Bark, too.

rowpiecesdamn sildeezy how do you know all of this stuff o_O

personally i like neapolitan and butter pecan but im fine with p much everything

i also like turtle

Jeni's makes a Brown Butter Almond Brittle that's A+ tier in my book. It's a more subtle flavor, but very complex.
Graeter's also has Bourbon Pecan Chocolate Chip, pretty bomb as well.

#39 ice cream in Off Topic

Actually nah, fuck it, I'm goin' in.

StevieI like strawberry mixed with cheesecake chunks.

Steve's Strawberry Ricotta

flatline Cherry Garcia

Check out Graeter's. They make a pretty widely available Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, which is definitely S tier. If you're stuck on cherries, you should check out their Black Cherry Chocolate Chip. I personally think it's very much superior to Cherry Garcia. Different people have different tastes, but I don't think you'll disagree.

twenty2020a nice banana ice creamDifferChunky Monkey

If you like Bananas, try Steve's Southern Banana Pudding, if they carry it in your area. If you must have nuts with your bananas, just add 'em.

Vipercookies and cream is the goat

here in ohio we have udf and they make a cookies and cream with actual oreos in it and it's incredible

If you're from Ohio, you're no stranger to Graeter's, and Jeni's, I assume. I like Graeter's C&C a lot. Jeni's just released one, too, tell me how it is.

Foreskimovanilla

Graeter's

Oppeboi'm so bland that i realized that i have only tried two types of ice cream in my life, sherbet and vanilla

please help me

Idk what they have in your area, but here are a few eye openers:

Graeter's Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip
Steve's Sunday Morning (maple syrup and waffles)
Jeni's Chrurro
New Orleans Ice Cream Co. Café au Lait & Beignets

Cerdurpeanut butter anything

McConnel's Double Peanut Chip
Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup

Konceptchocolate chip cookie dough

there's even this brand at one of my local grocery stores that I swear they put upwards of 30% cookie dough in the tubs that they sell

Sounds bomb. I've yet to really find a replacement for 2nd St Creamery's take on cookie dough - other than just putting cookie dough in someone else's ice cream.

AntimoonCoffee ice cream is pretty good.

Steve's uses iced coffee from actual new york coffee shops.
Jeni's Blackcat Espresso is another good option

AntimoonGelato

Fiasco
Dolcezza

CoYoTeBen and Jerry's chocolate brownie

Steve's Brooklyn Blackout
Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Therapy
Coolhaus Chocolate Molten Cake

PS:
If you don't have a Jeni's near you, order that shit on dry ice. It's 13 dollars flat rate shipping for unlimited pints. If you don't know where to start with them, I recommend:
Brambleberry Crisp
Brown Butter Almond Brittle
Atlantic Beach Pie (if you can still find it in stores)
Sweet Cream Biscuits and Peach Jam (if you can still find it in stores)
Salted Peanut Butter and Chocolate Flecks
Churro
And, really, anything else that sounds like you'd like it.
Gooey Butter Cake looks dope, but I've yet to sample it.
Jeni's pints are 12 dollars, each. It's ice cream. It's not only unnecessary, but unhealthy. If you're gonna eat it, go all out. If you're worried about prices or calories, don't eat it at all.

#66 Would you play an MGE Tournament with a prizepool? in TF2 General Discussion
See, this is why people don't like us. There's plenty of skilled Pyro mains outside of the niche that 6v6 forces them into. There's so much more that goes into being skilled at TF2 than using less than half of its classes.

But why are they skilled? Because they position well and know when/where to spycheck. Those elements do not exist in mge. Put clockwork on pyro with a shotgun and nothing else against any of the pyro players you're talking about and it's a guaranteed body bag. To further beat that horse dead, as someone who used to mge a lot, the best pyros I MGE'd against were never pyro mains.

If someone wants to play pyro, or sniper: power to them. Forcing the other player to play pyro, though, is hardly fun.

These 1v1s may be slower or flow differently, but they're still 1v1s.

With this inclusionist mindset, why then have you banned heavy and sentry guns? Because it's cheesey? But pyro somehow isn't?

Can you really not see the potential of an MGE tournament that requires more skill and strategy than just raw aim?

What about a sentryless engie vs engie battle involves any form of strategy beyond raw aim? It's dumbed down scout v scout - more forgiving to players that have bad aim because of the slower movespeed and larger hitboxes. It's still all aim, it's even more "all aim" than scout v scout or soldier v soldier. There isn't even any room for other tactics at all. Sniper vs Sniper is also overwhelmingly aim dominant, with the only real tactic being baitscopes.

Rocket jumping alone is more complex/deep than anything pyro/sniper/medic/engie matchups can present. I'm not anti-non-sixes classes by any means, but it's a straight fact.

Again, power to you. Host your tourney, but don't be surprised if you fail to convince people to like your format. It's not because we're being close-minded, or elitists. We didn't just read some brochure that said non-sixes classes are shit/gimmicky. We think this way because we've played the game... a lot.
