Night Terror is a genuinely talented player though. He did actually have the skill to play top high/prem and just used hacks to make him slightly better, which is why it's so sad.

you mean victorian era, and early 20th century where eugenetics and social darwinism became popular. In the "dark ages" meritocracy was actually way more of a thing, and especially before that with the ancient roman empire, where a band of peasant stock illyrian generals, kept the empire afloat for another 200 years. The romans and italians dropped that idea and became racist, when the empire was already in steady decay, so they mistreated capable people who served with or under them like Odoacer or Stilicho and it marked the end, for the (western) roman empire.
MouldI feel like in order to identify as something and have that be respected by people or law etc, you need to actually do something about it? I'm not saying you can't have the idea in your head, but you can't really expect people to bend over backwards for you if you haven't made any effort.
