#2 Build a stream-capable PC under £500 ($750) in Hardware

Well. First of all, I think the build is solid. There are some parts that I'd get from a different brand. But that's personal preference, really. In case you don't want to overclock, you don't have to get the K-Version. (Saves you about 10$ i believe) Also for stock clocks there is not really a need to get anything besides the boxed cooler. (like 95% of the boxed coolers I've seen are fine and fairly silent if you clean them once in a while, and you can always RMA it if it's broken.)

And lastly I'd rather get a 120GB SSD and go for an external HDD later when you have some spare money again. (Or you use the one in your current computer again.)

#7 Pro's and Con's for open plugin in TF2 General Discussion

I don't think that they will ban the plugin anytime soon without at least a warning. A ton of people in the european scene use the plugin and it would be devastating to etf2l (and cause quite an uproar from the community) if they ban it without notice.

#8 Fans running loud in Hardware
Not_MatlockThe hardware came straight from newegg so I'm probably using the default CPU. I'm not that knowledgeable about hardware so I'm not quite sure what thermal paste is.

It's the paste between the cpu and it's cooler. It increases the thermal conductivity.

The only tool i've checked out before that is able to cap the RPM (Rounds per minute) on fans is SpeedFan. Please be careful while using it and only go down small steps and test your system's stability and the temps after each step. Instead of loading up a game use Prime95. It will make your system run at 100% load. To get accurate temps out of it I use and recommend CoreTemp.

Good Luck! :)

#103 TFTV i49 LAN Fundraiser in News

I've donated 30$ yesterday. Come on people, if you have 5$ spare that you usually spend on zigarettes or alcohol, skip those for a week and donate. Even 5$ go a long way. :P

#3 Started a new 6s Team! Lots of questions in Q/A Help

As for 3)

In my opinion the best time I had playing competitive TF2 was when everything was new to me and my teammates so you can experiment with stuff. That is if you like to theorycraft and try out unorthodox things and learning what is effective/good by yourself.

If you wanna skip all of that and just learn how it works - there are plenty of great ressources.

A Guide to 6v6 meta
MGE Video Archive
etc.

And as for maps just run through them while everyone is in mumble. Talk about your ideas, things you've done that worked, things that went badly, etc. So your teammates get an understanding how you play and you get the same from them. As for naming conventions, you can either create your own with your team. Or you just follow this guide: Labeled Maps for players new to comp TF2

#5 any recommendations on parts for a new desktop? in Hardware

Ivy Bridge is basically the same as Sandy Bridge but optimized better and the internal GPU is better. (of course there are other minor changes, but those are the main ones, afaik) Consumes less electricity for the same amount of processing power.

As for the difference between i5's and i7's. The main difference is that i7's feature Hyper-Threading. Which basically duplicates some sections of the processor which results in roughly 25% more power. Windows will normally see 8 physical cores in the device manager which is wrong. (If you wanna read more about HT, check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper-Threading

Also in the i7-series are some CPUs that feature 6 cores 12 threads. I have one of those and it's an absolute monster.

#50 tf2 sens problem in Q/A Help

Does this problem only affect people with a Razer DeathAdder? Ma3laa uses one, cha0s uses one and I've found plenty of people with DeathAdder problems through google.

But I haven't found anything that was not suggested yet. It's highly suspicious to me, that the problem still persists after a fresh install. Since we can exclude that any other software fucked something up. (Besides the Razer Driver perhaps?)

Well, I don't remember if it was mentioned yet, but turning off Multicore-Rendering might be worth a shot. Also did you try a different USB-Port on your computer?

Cheers

#34 tf2 sens problem in Q/A Help

I suggest formatting your PC and doing a fresh install of windows. Install nothing besides TF2 (and steam obviously) and try if the issue persists. If it still persists, it should be either the mouse itself or the mousepad. Alternatively try to use the mouse at a friends / or any other PC.

Does it only happen while in TF2? In any other games or the OS itself?

It would be pretty odd that you put something in your config that does this by accident. But if you want you can upload your config and I or someone else will look over it.

Cheers

Act III is amazing. First playthrough is way harder than first playthrough on Diablo III Inferno. :)

#1 profix stream in Requests

Hello.

I used to stream a while ago but never signed up for this. Since I got a new CPU I'm finally able to stream without pesky micro stuttering again.

Link: http://en.twitch.tv/profixtf2
Country: Switzerland

I played scout last season in ETF2L where my team our division 4. This season I made the switch over to demoman and I will once again participate in division 4 in ETF2L.

Hope my stream makes it on this page. :)

#21 Path of Exile in Off Topic

You can have six people in your party. Also if you want a kiwi pet you gotta grab one before open beta hits. They're not available anymore after that.

#5 Path of Exile in Off Topic

Since OB hits in 6 days anyways I'm just gonna post some keys here because the people I usually play with are not interested in them. So I'd rather give them to the TF2 community than some random redditors.
