this is why I mute everyone who talks in mge
it's always either
1) completely new players just having a nice conversation over voice because they don't know about mumble
2) idiots like this juju guy
3) brazilians
team with no weeaboos = stays together
team with 1-2 weeaboos = dies after not making playoffs
team with 3-4 weeaboos = dies after losing playoff finals
team with 5-6 weeaboos = everyone makes lfts like 5 hours before playoff finals??
too lazy to put into galaxy brain meme form but that would work as well
I actually think rr- is overrated which is why I didn't put him on my list
I'm so old that to me the classic Pandemic/loaded/coL. roster is just too iconic to be underrated, so I guess I should take that into account
someone saying relic or carnage or solidsnake is underrated in my mind sounds like someone saying b4nny or clockwork or shade is underrated

I could go even further back and start talking about players like trautz or hong or alexwut or hell but idk how good they REALLY were
not all of these players were even gods but I remember them all fondly
EDIT: took so long to write this that I got ninjad on cozen and zbryan
as someone who actually enjoys captaining, my biggest annoyance with the faceit system is having no idea what classes the people I pick are gonna be on before the game starts- obviously this is most noticeable with medic, but it's true throughout
for instance, here are some scenarios that come up a lot
1) there's a pretty good medic main added. I am dubious that he is actually going to be willing to play medic, and he's mediocre on other classes, but I feel like I have to pick him because a) if I don't I'll have literally 0 medic and b) if the other guy picks him and he IS willing to play medic we basically autolose. I pick him like 3rd or something, he refuses to med, my 1st pick and/or the random amateur player who got moved up is forced to medic, and we lose.
2) I recognize that the other team is gonna be on some main class tryhard shit, and I pick the best remaining scouts because that's the most important class for winning pugs in most instances. one or both of them decide to play diff classes and it turns out picking the low IM soldier with decent dm who got lastpicked would have actually been better, despite that being almost impossible to predict ahead of time.
3) I have a very strong idea of what class I want to play, either because it's the one I'm in the mood for or because it's my best class and I want to win. for me, that class is usually demoman. so, I deliberately don't pick any of the one-trick demo mains that advanced is filled with, ensuring that I can play it, or so I think. I join the server very fast, but there's one dude in it already- my teammate, the scout/soldier main, already on demo.
for control freaks who actually enjoy captaining, or at least enjoyed it on pugchamp, it's super frustrating when you're this subject to random luck (I haven't even gotten into the advantages of 1st pick when there's a really obvious fatkid, or being forced to play with people you just don't get along with on a personal level). you wanna believe that, other than your skill vs the skill of the other captain which is obviously a factor, and who gets first pick because someone has to, you actually have a ton of control over your own fate based on how well you captain. in faceit, you just don't.
chinchilla is no more, and I'm lookin for a new home, I've been grinding my demo dm and wanna pound
looking for high IM/dare I say invite??? team preferably as demo, would consider pocket if nothing else crops up
I'm also considering making a team as well but that depends on a lot of things
p.s. im getting fios next week too \m/
u guys should prolly not kill ur team since you have a lot of good players
dont let esea distract you from the fact that sporadic blew a 4-0 lead in the semifinals
yeah the idea of any balance changes in the current game (post-the recent pyro nerf) revolving around classes that aren't scout is pretty precious
DarkNecridPlus it's basically a Scout buff, Medics are able to heal Scouts so much more often after they buffed the Crossbow's reload time + passive reload attribute because they can crossbow everyone else and spend less time healing everyone else directly and invest that time into Scout. If you tried to heal Scout as much in a no Crossbow world, you'd be forfeiting heals directly on your Soldiers/Demo.
I mostly agreed with your analysis but I disagree with this. I think the main reasons scout more dominant than ever before are:
1. the demo nerf
2. the medic movement speed buff
3. scout dm simply improving across the board
4. soldiers becoming more proficient at overall more advanced rjs and therefore needing to be tanked less often (in conjunction with the rise of double gunboats)
therefore, if xbow were banned, medics would have 2 options
1) play much slower and tank a pocket + demo a lot more
2) make their soldiers/demo even more expendable and keep the beam on scouts to more easily cleanup players on mid
I posit that, if team A is doing strat 1 and team B is doing strat 2, and they're about even skill, team B will win more of the time in a post-crossbow world. with the aforementioned reasons for pocket scout becoming more extreme in its usage, I just think a really good pocket scout with the beam on him will run around and pick off players while the other med slowly heals heavy classes back up.
I once thought the crossbow was too ez mode and therefore should be nerfed or banned (and it was nerfed, but is obviously still nuts)
then item servers went down a few times, and I realized how much worse the game is without it (mid fights in particular)
morwannegPandering to thin-skinned people isn't progress, and actually hampers it. I wish people who think of themselves as "leftists" would actually realize this. Walking on eggshells with people who take offense at the slightest thing(no matter actual racist/sexist intent or not) is honestly a pretty damn scary way to live.
do you think it's considered appropriate in the average workplace to make jokes that could even be accidentally construed as racist or sexist regardless of intent? esports as a whole is far more lenient than almost any other walk of life because of the demographics involved. it's irrelevant how you feel about it, esports is a massive safe space for young, middle class white males to express themselves in ways that they wouldn't be able to get away with in the average 9 to 5 job. whether you think being more careful with potentially offensive speech is good, because it fosters a more inclusive environment, or bad because overpolicing speech is a slippery slope, that's the way the world is in 2018, and it's just ironic to hear people decry OW as a "safe space" as if being a cs or a dota 2 pro gamer is in any way the average experience of someone entering the workforce
