I like the idea of this series, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear eXtine's voice narrating it. I'm excited for future episodes but I wasn't particularly thrilled by this first episode. TF2 crashes during demo

it might be a HUD conflict. i used to encounter a similar problem on A/D maps (specifically gravelpit) when using a specific HUD. the setup timer would reach zero and my game would crash instantly. had to install a new HUD.
you may be encountering a similar issue. or the demo file might be corrupted. can you skip to tick past that tick? i.e. if you crash at tick 100, skip to 200 and see if it works / plays.
