clyph0rd*let's organize an exciting event to build hype for the competitive community, but schedule it for almost immediately after it was announced so that most of the big YouTubers involved don't have time to announce it on their channels and build hype for the event*
The "event" was originally going to just be youtubers vs a pug team based around b4nny and clockwork. It was scheduled a little while ago, and was less of an event and more of a "we're gonna get in a server and record a few games" for the youtuber's channels (hence the midnight est start). Raja (stapler) approached me with a question about configs or something, and I said "I could see if tftv is able to cast it". TFTV got a production team together, and it got casted (really well, I might add).
The main community-wide benefit will most likely come from the videos put out on Raja and array's channels that will let their audiences know "oh competitive isn't some stupid, tryhard crap. i might try it!", which is the main goal of the event anyways. The last video with this many big/ semi-big tf2 youtubers is approaching half a million views.
Hope this clarifies some stuff about the event. :)
poopsharkdid the youtubers get a chance to scrim? iirc didnt the community team during communities vs pros get some form of coaching/scrims before they played, so that they had some inkling of an idea how to push the maps?
I was in mumble for a total of about 2 hours today answering questions about maps and stuff, but this is a much more "thrown together" kind of event than the community v pro events from way back when. No scrims. They're going pretty damn well considering how little they've known the event was going to happen.
Foxuncle dane on soldier and muselk on engineer
THIS IS A TRAVESTY
(they should switch even with the europing)
i'm cheering for raja to behead the foes known as "froyotech"
It's worse than europing, it's the dreaded australian ping. The one time Muselk casted the ultiduo tournament, he had 250+ ping to LA. The event server is in Chicago.
Full Youtubers Roster:
Scout: Scottjaw
Soldier: Uncle Dane
Pyro: Retro
Demo (knight): King Raja
Heavy: Funke
400 ping engineer: Muselk
Medic: ArraySeven
Sniper: Jimmie
Spy: SaltyPhish
Backups: tbd & KevinIsPwn if necessary
I missed these events so much. Some of you tftv regulars may remember stapler (http://www.teamfortress.tv/15023) from a while back. He's gotten fairly large on youtube under the alias raja to the point where he can actually promote tftv. Pretty crazy, imo.
Regardless, I'm pretty freaking pumped about this.
Stop by this coming Friday. We'd love to have you! https://steamcommunity.com/groups/na6v6newbiemix
Welcome to competitive!
lange is the new "hello there!" oh my goodness
SideshowSource for people earning $200 per 100k views?
Typically, youtubers make between roughly $1.25 and $3.50 per 1000 views. As mentioned above, it all depends on ad interactions. It varies wildly, but that's what I understand to be the typical number.
edit: sorry, that's not a source. i get these numbers from websites like socialblade, along with other various websites i've stumbled upon in the past.
Obiphobiasin is cancer but he prolly makes bank off these shit vidswhats ur definition of bank
i mean, he averages like 100k views a day. Most people get like 200 dollars for every 100k views. So that's like a 6k a month salary (72k a year)
for what it is, that's bank and a half imo
Hey, so some of you guys may know that I'm one of the newbie mix admins. About a month ago, we were approached by tf2 community member—and current newbie—ShdSteel (rep thread, backpack) about raising funds for TotH to put in the name of Newbie Mixes.
ShdSteel-ANY TYPE OF DONATION IS ACCEPTED, whether it be Tf2 items(stranges, unusuals, cosmetics, refined metal, keys, etc) or Paypal(All Paypal donations are converted into Tf2 currency at the rate of $1.70 per 1 mann co. key).
-IF enough donations are made, we could be one of the highest donations group for tip of the hats, and can spread the name of newbie mixes in the process!
-Anyone who donates gets entered into the raffle.
If you're planning on contributing to TotH either monetarily or with in game items, check out the steam discussion for details about raffles, the motives behind this pool, or if you have any questions. Feel free to ask here, too.

Thanks, guys!
saama lot of people also might not want their comms heard (i,e I raped that nigger doesn't really put you or your team in a good light)
if you want your comms censored or whatever, i'd be willing to do that too.
kounterpartsLITTERALLY ALL U HAVE TO DO IS PLAY IN INVITE, ADD KEVIN, AND SEND A DEMO FOR KEYS LIKE WHAT I WISH I HAD THAT OPPRUTUNITY
The thing I'm paying for are local obs recording or streams. If I have to take the time to render it out, I'm not paying for it. That doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate comms recordings, but I won't pay for them.
Friendly reminder that I'm still looking (and even paying) for good invite/prem/plat match POVs. Record stuff this season!
This post was just brought to my attention today, actually. I don't know how I missed it, but yeah.
This is a true problem that we have every single week, including this one. There's only so much abuse my friends list can take. Please coach. There are currently 23 newbies with no competitive experience waiting to play 6s for basically their first time. More than 50 newbies with less than silver experience waiting to get in and learn the game. Pleasepleaseplease come coach. If you are scared because you don't know what to do with coaching, I made a guide:
