#87 Planet at risk of irreversible hothouse conditions in World Events

those are good links and I did already have an understanding that there will be colossal damage to coastal cities like houston etc that will most likely cost trillions in the long run. and yes, beautiful natural ecosystems that we don't even inhabit will be affected through wildfires or what have you. my idea of "terrible" circumstances would be a complete worldwide cataclysm not a partial one - ie we literally can't produce food anymore or something similar. so yes, my wording sucked as my idea of terrible is definitely not the same as most

most of my opinion is coming from the fact that we can't stop this at this point (and maybe a little bit to do with the crazy amount of injustices going on in this world besides global warming, it's hard to take anything seriously)

i've been browsing a few too many imageboards nowadays so i've felt maybe a little too jaded for my optimism on the issue to really show - but yeah, in an age where we are beginning to see feasible solutions to the problems we have, I personally don't want to feel like a victim of fearmongering

money is behind it all, the moment it becomes more profitable to be eco friendly all of the harmful industry goes out the window. that's why I have such confidence, because money is the only reason that these industries are allowed to thrive

of course they'll partially destroy the world but hey we're in a great technological age, on the brink of basic income and automated farming and really im quite optimistic for that reason

it's so funny to be shamed for speculation in a thread about speculation.

if the planet heats up 5C over the next century people can move, lol - im not denying that anything is happening

obviously shit will hit the fan, but, it's really easy to make the assumption that the elite will find a way to profit off of solving this problem so im genuinely not worried at all

carbon tax is literally just the beginning

and if it becomes an exponential problem and the planet starts combusting I couldn't care less if I have to move to zyflex 14-b in a cryochamber to get the last 20 years of my life

there are already uninhabitable places on earth lol. death valley and the sahara aren't exactly friendly to human life at the moment. sensationalism of articles like this bothers me

people will wise up in 20-30 years and a few degrees wont change too much, temperature has fluctuated much more over the course of earth's history like another poster mentioned. there's too much action being taken regarding climate change for anything terrible to happen at this point

smog is a much more serious problem

#9 TF2 update for 8/2/18 in TF2 General Discussion
scrabHighly doubt there are 15 people at valve dumb enough to work on tf2

more like 3 or 4 but that would still be the easiest job of all time unless at this point the tf2 dudes also work on cs/dota patches as well
