Just a reminder that the beta ends on Tuesday now, at 10 AM PDT!

#130 Overwatch Open Beta Live in Other Games

This game is great. Don't know why the viewmodels have to be so big, but I kinda started ignoring them after a while.

I think my favorite heroes are Tracer, McCree, Bastion, and Widow. Hopefully I'll get to play some more before the beta ends.

#11 Valve & Lionsgate to bring Movies on Steam. in Music, Movies, TV

Valve should start an all-in-one streaming service. Music, movies, and TV shows all on one platform. Maybe add games to that as well, but have it function more like a XB1 or PS4 game in that you can play it while it's being downloaded after a certain point.

#15 New Map Saturday's hosted by Power Pugs in Map Discussion
WhitePowerJesusThe last time that group held pugs was 12/5 and none of those players even play Power Pugs. I am not seeing the big deal, these are two completely different groups and we host pugs daily.

Not all Power Pugs people are going to want to play new maps, and the new map pugs people I'm sure would love to play more pugs on a different day.

#4 New Map Saturday's hosted by Power Pugs in Map Discussion

Looks like we went full circle.

kounterpartswhen you messaged me about collaborating with new new map pugs, and I declined as were currently working uo to a very special release and rebranding. I wouldnt think you would do it on the same day as us, not cool.

oh wow, this is especially not cool. At least change the date.

#93 BOOST FPS WITH THIS ONE SIMPLE TRICK in TF2 General Discussion

Did some benchmarks with this:

benchmark12639 frames 19.867 seconds 132.83 fps ( 7.53 ms/f) 10.099 fps variabilitybenchmark24843 frames 41.227 seconds 117.47 fps ( 8.51 ms/f) 16.574 fps variability

Compared with benchmarks I did with my original config (dx9frames):

benchmark12639 frames 22.594 seconds 116.80 fps ( 8.56 ms/f) 11.787 fps variabilitybenchmark24843 frames 43.583 seconds 111.12 fps ( 9.00 ms/f) 15.957 fps variability

With -default:

benchmark12639 frames 27.262 seconds 96.80 fps (10.33 ms/f) 7.188 fps variabilitybenchmark24843 frames 53.788 seconds 90.04 fps (11.11 ms/f) 11.069 fps variability

Default with some changes:

benchmark12639 frames 23.016 seconds 114.66 fps ( 8.72 ms/f) 10.145 fps variabilitybenchmark24843 frames 40.637 seconds 119.18 fps ( 8.39 ms/f) 15.339 fps variability

With comanglia's High Qualiy config and dxlevel 98:

benchmark12639 frames 17.162 seconds 153.77 fps ( 6.50 ms/f) 10.164 fps variabilitybenchmark24843 frames 35.387 seconds 136.86 fps ( 7.31 ms/f) 19.551 fps variability

CPU and overclock: 3570k @ 3.4 GHz (although turbo kicks it up to 3.8 sometimes)
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 760 Superclocked
Driver version: 353.62
dxlevel (default is 90): 98
Resolution: 1920x1080
Full-screen or windowed: Full
Shadows enabled/disabled: enabled

So I'm basically getting about 20 less fps with this config than Comanglia's, but it looks a lot better. Think I'll go with this one, especially since the benchmarks are just worst-case scenarios.

#6 The teamfortress.tv Discord: Find Scrims & More! in News

it's not badlands irc

Jokes aside, this is promising.

#11 PLEASE USE IRC FOR SCRIMS in TF2 General Discussion

It shouldn't be too hard to add instant scrims to an existing scrim site. Should be at least slightly easier than making one from scratch unless the existing code is bad.

Also, a problem with IRC is trolls that will advertise as a low/mid open team and they end up being pugscrims, high open or IM team, or just some dudes who want to fuck around and waste another team's time for some reason. Granted this isn't a huge problem (especially since with better teams or pugscrims you might learn some new things from them) but it has happened before. I assume making a frontend for it would pretty much fix the issue (does this happen with the web scrim schedulers?).
