bearodactylWoah I like that idea of a hidden cup that would be mad fun to watch, how would it work exactly? Chat mods would have to be pretty diligent in banning people who cheated and looked at logs to find who the players were (unless everyone had to use an alt account or something but that would be a ton of work), they'd also have to force everyone to wear no hats.
Could probably tell certain things by who uses original vs stock but would be pretty difficult I think. The prospect of playing and having no idea who's on the other team (admins would have to message both teams connect info) sounds wild and I bet it would cause people to play a lot different
Never really fiddled with server hosting, but can't you just not upload to logs.tf?

It's a very very foolish mindset to assume that there aren't bugs leading to rce in any software, let alone a c++ codebase from 2004, with old versions of 3rd party libraries, that valve has been adding to in the way that they have.
This specific bug in XZip has been found and patched, there are undoubtedly many more similar bugs in other parts of Source/tf2, and you should assume the same for nearly any software.
Seems that Valve only patched the steam invite RCE for TF2. What about CS:GO? What about the other RCEs?
good call, they most likely just forgot to patch the RCE in csgo, their most popular game except for maybe dota

New faceit update. Season 2 launches May 1. Here are the changes to season 2 as well as some changes they plan to make in the future at an unspecified date
Season 2 changes
- Reworking missions to be less painful to complete and award more points
- New shop items
- New ladders and point resets
Changes for the future
- New matchmaking algorithm to improve balance
- Anticheat improvements, as well as less players being required to run the anticheat
- 12v12 premade matches called "clan wars"
- A more casual replacement for quickplay, separate from Faceit's current matchmaking
- Servers for Asia, Australia, and South America (no timeframe on these except that they'll be after they're happy with the state of Faceit matchmaking)
- Support for competitive tf2 (they explicitly mention 6s and growing the current competitive scene)
