#2 what does prec_tag do? in Q/A Help

I'm not the original developer, but I decided I'd look thru the files to find an answer. Honestly, it's just related to naming your demo. Tag is a variable PREC will hold, and then assign to the filename. For instance, the file format for the saved demo in PREC is [date] [map] [redname] [bluname] [tag]. If you're just PREC saving demos, and played a snakewater game today at say 18:22, with your team called "jim" and the other team (BLU) called "john" the resulting file will be called "2-7-20161822-cp_snakewater_final1-jim-john.dem" or something. If you prior to playing, type into console "prec_tag ETF2Lw1" the resulting file becomes "2-7-20161822-cp_snakewater_final1-jim-john-ETF2Lw1.dem" and is thus easier to identify.

#214 7HUD in Customization

Hey, so when I spectate people, and it shows their loadout, does it still show unknown for like all the items in the game rather than a picture?

That aside, thank you so much for actually continuing to update this hud, it's become the only hud I use for 2 years now.

Despite the match ending, I feel there wasn't enough hype for the end result. Seriously, if you missed it, watch the VOD for this match, at least for the end of match interviews with JackyLegs and Dr. Phil just devouring each other.

#35 Help me to choose which mouse I should buy in Hardware

I personally use the mionix castor, and love it for a good, basic RGB 5 button mouse with dpi switch. I think most of benq's Zowie lineup and steelseries lineups are pretty well accepted by the tf2 community so you may look into that too. Honestly, mice are all about preference, and a lot of players use mice that the community may be up in arms about. I think once upon a time there was this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OCE_8ExgcTwU8as3v9ajKCgtcf3vg3nm1Wok9kmTHaw/edit#gid=0

#17 teamfortress.tv Staff Recruitment in TF2 General Discussion

I can certainly watch matches and do writeups if the community doesn't mind a new voice. I live in Hawaii, so I have some kind of advantage where I'm staying up far later than the NA scene and far earlier than the EU. I also have been following most of the competitive scene since around Quantic and Mihaly's Flow. I have decent grammar and I like to do research, fact-check/proof read all of my work and posts (for the most part).

I'm also a college student so I'm sarcastic, bitter, and have a hatred of the oxford comma that can only be satiated with terrible jokes, and tasteless humor. I can work on articles at odd hours if I'm asked to do a writeup on something in particular. I'm not particularly tied to any scene either, since I'm playing in sandbag and drop UGC this season so I haven't got much bias and think all the leagues, locally and internationally, are equally horrible. I also don't mind tracking down players for interviews if they don't immediately decline comment. If I wasn't playing UGC on Wednesday nights, and had prior casting experience, I wouldn't mind casting/camerawork either.

I'm on the TF.TV discord or on steam usually even if I don't really say very much very frequently, so if I'm at all suitable, you can raise my hopes up a little there before crushing them when I remember that most of the time, ESEA matches get delayed for weeks.

#4 CrossFire Issues in TF2 General Discussion

CCC used to have per application settings, Radeon Settings doesn't appear to though. It can load executables in if you direct it to them, but I just tried with hl2.exe and the problem appears to persist. It's really odd that it's just the weapon skins that are doing this. All normal textures are appearing fine.

#1 CrossFire Issues in TF2 General Discussion

So I know the TF2 doesn't really use CrossFire, I figured this won't be a problem. It doesn't use it. Whatever. I can not even worry about it. Turns out having CrossFire on causes really weird graphical glitches on skinned weapons.

I even went so far as to try turning off CrossFire Mode via Radeon Settings. The problem persisted. Absolutely no effecct. The only solution that fixed this was to go into additional settings and completely disable crossfire, rendering my second graphics card disabled and basically a 500 USD weight in my case.

I was mostly curious if anyone has gotten this same issue, or if they have an AMD CrossFire setup that works and if so, what potential variables allowed this to work for you. To be clear, I am aware what TF2 does with Nvidia's SLI. I have an SLI enabled computer as well so people who inevitably start jeering red or green aren't really being helpful.

I don't know of any cfg command to disable the second GPU in source, I don't know why TF2 isn't listening to my request to disable my second card in Radeon Settings and I don't believe the source engine uses .ini

#37 New Whitelist: ETF2L Season 23 in TF2 General Discussion

Sideshow appears to have taken up my argument. I agree with it's not OP, it's just not fun to realize you were just denied a push and possibly getting absolutely crushed by an Engineer getting lucky.

DamnEasydeykuzorI'd say ban the Pompson, especially with this exploit.
DamnEasyKevinIsPwnquotesnipsnip

This is 100% not true, it does NOT remove 10% uber lol, at snakewater its max of 5%, and you wont hit the medic anyway because there will be atleast 2 classes infront of the medic, and pomson does not penetrate enemy players

August 15, 2012 Patch
Removed player penetration from the Pomson 6000 and boosted the damage to compensate.
https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Pomson_6000

so it doesnt matter that you can just spam choke points, even if you reach the enemy players (which will take like 3 seconds because it travels so fucking slow) you wont hit the medic anyway.

It is still 100% true, I never mentioned the penetration because I did research the gun, and I do know it no longer penetrates. I am fully aware of everything in the guns changelog, I don't need the wiki link reminder. Do you think having two moving, probably blast jumping, players in front of you is equivalent to a suit of armor though? You can easily get a shot in and remove some uber, and the fall-off does not mean it will never be 10%, you can get really aggressively cheeky as Engineer with a shotgun.

And

BloodiskKaltUu

good point, I really don't have a hat to throw into this ring, being an American, anyway.

Edit: Noted I didn't address something, but

DamnEasyAnd like t0m said, if you want to drain the uber before they push your team cant spam them so they will get in for free without ubering, in the hope that your engy MIGHT hit the enemy medic, then the engy has to call he hit the medic (which is hard to see), your team has to not die to the enemy players, and then shoot the medic before he gets his uber back (which will be in like 2-3 seconds)

I would not ask my teammates not to spam, if they're forced before entering, that's even better than delaying them 3 seconds. But why would I not want to delay them those three seconds anyway? That's 3 seconds my team can be building uber or get spawns. I would spam the pompson into the choke with the soldiers, I lose nothing. I'm not trying to prevent the medic from having uber to save the game or make him easier to pick, I'm trying to either delay the push, or force them. (Pompson won't force an uber in most situations, but again, why would I ever ask my team not to spam?)

I'd say ban the Pompson, especially with this exploit.

DamnEasyKevinIsPwnquotesnip

I would argue that using Badlands last as the deciding example of a competitive situation is pretty unfair in general. For instance, in Snakewater last, while you can peak and find out if there is a Heavy, a Sniper or a Sentry, you're not typically looking at the Engineer, and because Snakewater is a larger last than say Badlands, its more useful to attempt to hold the uber as long as you can to gain ground unless the enemy team is running the Sniper anyway. I don't know how fast you think an uber will build, but 10% suddenly gone mid-push plus damage is pretty difficult to deal with (that tends to average a full 3 seconds in play where conditions are not always optimal especially mid-push.) This is even worse when an entire team is intent to kill a medic and his patient before they pop. Even if the Medic calls and says to call off the push, they lost 10% uber, that's time for the enemy team to get spawns, build their own ubercharge, etc. It's a compounding punishment for something that wasn't based on the Engineers skill nor any mistake of the team that was trying to push. The gun is also very easy to spam since it STILL does not require ammunition, has no damage penalty anymore, does equal damage to buildings and players alike and thus has no downside to firing. At the very least, the gun should not have the uber draining mechanic. Dealing damage and having no need to pick up ammo is enough for a class that suddenly doesn't need to conserve ammo to build death machines.

But I'm not playing in ETF2L, so perhaps my points aren't worth anything.
