#7 Slower boot times when HDD is connected in Hardware

I flashed the bios and now the ssd/hdd are both showing up. When I set the SSD as the first boot option and the UEFI: Windows Boot Manager to the second option, I got the "Reboot and select proper boot device" error so I had to unplug the SSD and HDD to get into the bios and change around the boot options. I plugged the SSD and the HDD back in and when I got into the bios I changed the UEFI: Windows Boot Manager to the first boot option and the SSD to the second boot option and then Windows booted up fine. I think that I may have messed up the installation of W. 8.1 on the SSD because both the SSD and the working boot option are showing up on the boot list.

It's an MSI Z77A-G41 mobo. SSD is an 840 Evo 250gb and the HDD is some WD green 1.5tb drive. I installed Windows 8.1 with just the SSD connected but I think that when I was creating a bootable USB I used a zipped .iso file which may have contributed to the problem (?).

The SSD is connected to the Sata1 (lowest) port and the HDD is connected to the Sata5 port.

Those are the only options available. The "Hard disk" option is there when the hard drive is plugged in or not. I don't think any new options appear when the hdd is plugged in. Booting from the "Hard disk" option brings me right back to the bios when it tries to restart. I have it set so that the first boot option is UEFI: Windows Boot Manager, which seems to be the only way to boot into Windows for me.

#1 Slower boot times when HDD is connected in Hardware

I recently bought an ssd and did a clean install of Windows 8.1. When I have only my ssd connected, a cold boot takes around 10ish seconds. By the time my monitor powers on properly I'm at the Windows loading screen. When I have my hard drive connected as well, a cold boot takes around 20+ seconds. By the time my monitor powers on I see a black screen with an A2 on the bottom right, which I believe is the motherboard screen (stays for a few seconds). After that, I see the post screen (black background with white words) for a few seconds. Then I see the Windows loading screen. I have tried reformatting my hard drive but the problem persists. UEFI: Windows Boot Manager is set to the first boot option, with everything else disabled.

#1 Refurb Corsair SSD? in Hardware

So does anyone have any experience with Corsair manufacturer refurbished products? Specifically, I was looking to buy a "brand new" refurbished Neutron series SSD off of someone from a buy/sell/trade forum. Here's the exact model: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233623&cm_re=corsair_neutron-_-20-233-623-_-Product

Are there any real/likely concerns about things like this?

It's some website that's made to look exactly like the steam website so you enter your information thinking it's the real thing.

Sure about overclocking?
Any reason for 16GB RAM?
The PSU is massive overkill, even if you went dual GPU it would still be overkill.

Probably not going to overclock it. Do you think I should get 32 GB of ram? I wanted a nice PSU so I could get some upgrades in the future. Do you have any thoughts on the Corsair H100i CPU cooler vs the one I currently have selected?

If you're not overclocking then you won't need a "k" series processor or such an expensive motherboard. The 212 will be more than enough as well. 16 GB of ram is more than you need if you're just gaming on your pc, 8 GB will serve perfectly fine.
