#42 Coaches Needed for Newbie Mix! in TF2 General Discussion
JaguarFiendTL;DR - Coaches too often dm-carry their teams instead of actually working with their newbies. Coaches should have to play medic, or (even better) be a spectator and guide their teams without being on the field with them.

Shoutout to pie_hero. I've watching him coach and he's so damn good and professional, it's heartwarming. Kudos to you!

Same exact thing pretty much happened to me the last two mixes I coached. Except there were TWO players on the other team that both had esea experience, weren't playing medic, and they weren't even the coach. It was a brutal slaughter and my newbies were absolutely destroyed. I told Noona about it afterward, and it wasn't 100% their fault, I just wish there was some way to prevent stuff like this.

#3 thanks guys in TF2 General Discussion

Can we get a confirmation about wether or not it was a ddos attack? Hard to tell with the chaotic twitch chat. I just want to know if you guys were actually ddos'd, sorry if it's a stupid question.

Lights_Would you be able to add the option to create an outline for damage numbers?

This is really easy to do yourself, although I'm not sure why you would want - you see here in huddamageaccount.res that the damage done consists of two fonts - one is the main font and the other is the "shadow" for the font. This shadow gives the illusion of an outline somewhat, but is much more "neat" and clean looking than actually using an outline.

However, if you really wanted to use an outline, all you have to do is:
1) go to your clientscheme.res
2) press cntrl+f for "find" and search for "surface26"
3) change the outline value in surface 26 to a 1/on
4) in huddamageaccount.res - in the second section "DamageAccountValue" change the visible to 0 (this is the shadow font and since you're using an outline now I don't think you need this anymore.)

That's it.

"Resource/UI/HudDamageAccount.res"
{
"CDamageAccountPanel"
{
"fieldName" "CDamageAccountPanel"
"text_x" "0"
"text_y" "0"

"PositiveColor" "Damage Numbers"
"NegativeColor" "Damage Numbers"
"delta_lifetime" "2.0"
"delta_item_font" "surface23"

frownyMy biggest gripe with the old BroeselHUD was the font and lack of custom crosshairs (I'm a lazy cunt), this is much better. Some colour would also be nice. :)

Keep up the amazing work <3

Even if you didn't use the installer, changing colors in broeselhud is very easy, most of the major elements and their color values are at the very top section of the clientscheme.res. Also, there are currently 16 crosshairs built into broeselhud, to me that's a pretty decent amount.

That png doesn't look much different than the current version. Which is totally fine with me since I love Broeselhud and have been using it for so long. I'm excited and happy that you are continuing to work on the hud Broesel, I don't know what I would do without it.

#2 Streaming help in Off Topic

Unfortunately, from what I know, the bare minimum upload required to stream is 1.5Mb/s. I think you could possibly get away with that upload speed, but your quality what have to be like Gggly level or maybe worse. I have 1.4 up speed and have always wanted to stream but just can't :(

#1 Verifying and Defragmenting GCF's in Q/A Help

I know about using GCFspace, this question pertains to steam's version of defragmentation.

There was a time when a couple of my friends were arguing in mumble over which operation to perform first - verify or defrag. One said defrag first then verify, the other said the opposite.

I typically verify first, then defrag.

This question might seem silly but I would like to hear what you guys do, and what you think works best, or if it even matters which you do first.

#4 windows aero extensions in TF2 General Discussion
dfyi use 1800 dpi on my death adder, had it like this for a long time, now that i'm playing on my native res do you think i should try lowering it? i also did this thanks to cinq

http://windows7support247.blogspot.ca/2011/01/enable-or-disable-desktop-composition.html

The reason I asked what is your dpi, is because since you don't seem to notice the problem on a lower res, perhaps your mouse was having trouble scaling on the higher res. But since you use 1800 dpi, that's more than plenty to rule that out, so you don't need to change your dpi, definitely don't need to lower it.

Also remember when I got you to check the properties and compatibility tab on hl2.exe? That was the disable desktop composition feature, which you have checked, and that's a good thing.

Like I said if you feel that you're having a strange mouse accel sensation, then check that you have enhance pointer precision unchecked in your mouse settings in windows, and check that your razer driver software isn't enabling any accel. I guess that somehow the accel feeling could be exacerbated by the new res when you stream? Don't quote me on that though, I admit I'm grasping at straws on this one. Hopefully someone more tech-savvy than myself will come save the day.

#2 windows aero extensions in TF2 General Discussion

Sorry to hear the Aeros extensions didn't work, I really thought that was the culprit. :(

Anyway, now that we know that wasn't it, I'm wondering if it's the DPI of your mouse? Typically a DPI as low as 500 is enough for most resolutions, but just in case, what is your current DPI?

Also, of course be sure that you don't have any acceleration enabled, either through windows or your mouse software. If you use chris' fps config and the launch options that come with it, this along with m_rawinput 1 should disable windows mouse accel, but to be certain, check that in your control panel-hardware-mouse-pointer options-enhance pointer precision must be unchecked.

Sorry if that sounds dumb I'm just trying to rule out variables.

Is this guy an invite level troll or is english his 9th language. What is going on here.

edit: I just thought, if he could speak 9 languages, even his 9th probably wouldn't be this bad. I'm out of ideas. I don't get it.

Dude +1. Coconut water is REALLY good for you. It makes you feel better as soon as you drink it. Plus it's naturally delicious.

#2 energy drinks in Off Topic

Energy drinks are awful for your health man. I know that's not the question but just wanted to throw that in there. You're better off with some good black coffee if you want caffeine because it's not loaded with sugar. Also 5-hour energy is great for the same reason.

But I'd be a liar if I said I didn't like the taste of red bull and rock star. But I don't remember the last time I had one.
