#143 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

This weekend we have what is basically two premier events.

First off we have the SoCal Regionals 2016. The 2nd last Premier tournament and for many a life line to get into Capcom Cup, the other being Canada Cup later this year. Tons of international talent as well as America's finest are expected to be in attendance. The standout names are Go1, Momochi, GamerBee, Haitani, ChrisG, Julio, Nuki, XYZZY, Mago, Yukadon, Eita, NuckleDu, Xiao Hai, Justin Wong, and Filipino Champ. Big big tournament with a lot at stake for many players.

Stream: twitch.tv/capcomfighters
Brackets: http://arena.floko.tv/

SoCal Regionals 2016 ended last week with Qanba Douyu|Xiao Hai who takes the 4th spot as a player who has won 2 premier events. In 2nd place was Haitani, his highest placing since an Australian tournament way back this year. In 3rd place is also the highest placing American at a premier event so far this year: EG|K-Brad who really stepped it up this time around. And in 4th was Mago who continues to make his Karin look cleaner and cleaner. The rest of top 8 was Liquid|Nuckledu, CBZ|Onuki, EG|PR Balrog, and /r/Kappa.KFGC|XYZZY.

Also happening this weekend is the EU regional finals. This is a premier event but unique in that you had to be invited by either winning a ranking event in Europe or being given a spot by someone who won but could not make it. The players qualified are as folows:
Mister Crimson
Problem X
Phenom
CCL
Xian
MOV

Akainu
Cobelcog
ImStillDaDaddy
Daigo Umehara
Packz
TKR
Fruit

The bolded players are the ones who I think have the best chance to win.

Stream is at twitch.tv/capcomfighters
Bracket: http://challonge.com/CPTEU16

The EU regional finals ended with BST|Daigo Umehara securing his place at Capcom Cup. Congrats!

#23 how to improve consistency in TF2 General Discussion

There are many ways to thicken the broth of soups and bring it to a solid consistency.

One of the most common forms is Cornstarch. By adding cornstarch to a small amount of cold water or any other type of liquid (such as wine or stock) you create a thick slurry. With this you add it into the soup little by little until it brings itself to form and becomes more consistent.

Another way to do it is with Potatoes, Rice, and Bread. While not my favorite method they can add a quick boost to the thickness of the soup. Beware, however, as while it may seem fine at first the extra ingredients can end up making the soup uneven.

However my most favorite is the use of Roux. Roux is a substance which is made of equal parts fat and flour. It not only thickens the soup but also stabilizes it. This, however, requires time to make and makes it another chore for simply thickening soup. However, as they say, the more effort the greater the end product.

Show Content
It mostly boils down to practice. As you work on your gameplay, smartly with pugs and dm and such, you start to just figure out the sort of quirks of movement and be able to just shoot things more effectively. By doing it little by little you start to build up a foundation you can sort of rest on when you had "bad days" in TF2.

What I don't like is when people change a setting and suddenly be "better." It's no more than a placebo and should not be relied on. It makes for a very inconsistent player sometimes with some exceptions like perhaps mouse sensitivities. Stuff like interp is kinda whack and just feels like a placebo at times.

The most efficient way is to watch demos of yourself and of other top players of your class. Comparing the decisions you make and the decisions they make will perhaps bring a new light to how you play. This along with applying it to your game may require more effort but brings the best results in my eyes than just grinding DM and pugs. Watching POVs with comms is also great so you can try discern what's good and bad to communicate.

tl;dr I don't really know what I'm talking about I just wanted to make a soup analogy

#142 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

Got a couple of solid tournaments happening this weekend.

First off we have the big one: SEA Major over in Singapore. Being the other Asian Major expect loads of top talent coming here. Expect nothing short of great matches even in pools. Oh ant it's happening as I write this post.

Stream: twitch.tv/capcomfighters
Bracket: http://beastapac.challonge.com
Top 32 Bracket: http://beastapac.challonge.com/seam2016cptTOP32

SEAM has ended with Tokido taking 1st place and his second premier tournament. In 2nd place was EG|Momochi who just barely didn't reset the bracket. In 3rd, hot from his win in Indonesia, is HM|Eita. And in 4th we have a pleasant surprise in the form of Hori|Sako who is starting to show up now. The rest of top 8 was VS FV|IAMCHUAN, NL, HuomatoTV|HumanBomb, and RZR|Xian

Also coming up is The Fall Classic over in the East Coast. Expect top NA talent there along with an interesting return of PR_Balrog who basically didn't go to tournaments for half the year.

Stream is TBA but I'm assuming it will be at twitch.tv/teamsp00ky
Bracket: TBA

The Fall Classic ended last week albeit with many technical issues as the venue was out of power. In 1st place was Liquid|Nuckledu. In 2nd place was XsK_Samurai who has cemented his place as the best Ryu in North America. In 3rd was NS|Ludovic also showing that he is definitely a regional threat. In 4th was the only international player, /r/Kappa|John Takeuchi. The rest of top 8 was EG|PR Balrog, EG|Ricki Ortiz, EG|K-Brad, and PG|RayRay.

Along with these two tournaments we have two more over in the Europe region. First off is Liga Official Playstation Tournament 2016 over in Barcelona, Spain. Expect top EU talent there along with Dark Jiewa tagging along for the ride.

Stream is TBA
Bracket: https://www.toornament.com/tournaments/57e931c1140ba0104d8b45c6/information

Liga Official PlayStation Tour has ended with RB|Luffy taking 1st place. This win guarantees that he is in Capcom Cup through the European point leaderboard as there are no more European events. In 2nd place is AWS|CCL with his very consistent Chun-Li. In 3rd is another consistent player in the form of MD|MisterCrimson who only played Dhalsim this time around for some reason. Finally in 4th is GS|TKR, a local of Spain. The rest of top 8 was DAZ, Will2Pac, CristianRG, and LaDOSE|Nassim.

The second tournament happening in the Europe region is Geek Weekend 2016 over in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. While it is in the Middle East Capcom has decided to put the Middle East in Europe for "logistical reasons". For whatever reasons they may be the tournament can expect to see regional powerhouse Big Bird along with a visit from recent troublemaker in Europe MOV. Will Big Bird be able to stop MOV from farming more European points or will he exact his will on every tournament he goes to in the region? I guess we will find out.

Stream: http://twitch.tv/falcon_arena
Bracket: TBA

As expected by everyone MOV takes 1st place at Geek Weekend 2016. In 2nd place was FA|BigBird with his stylish Ken. In 3rd was someone I thought was in Spain: PandaTV|Dark Jiewa. Finally in 4th is Fruit with an interesting combination of Chun-Li and Laura. The rest of top 8 was FA|Hamood, Zentetsu, DIM|Shin, and HS|Horsemask

#141 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

Last week a slew of stacked tournaments ended.

First off is the big one: ESL's Brooklyn Beatdown.
While not part of the CPT the ESLBB was immensely stacked with a sizeable prize pool. The winner of that was Qanba Douyou|Xiao Hai. In 2nd place who was quite literally one uppercut away from winning was EG|Momochi. In 3rd was Tokido and 4th was YOUDEAL MJS|Haitani. The rest of top 8 was RZR|Fuudo, EG|Justin Wong, Commander Jesse, and SOA|Brolynho

Secondly we had the Abuget Cup down in Jakarta, Indonesia. Quite a few strong players here from the Asian region. The strongest of all today here was HM|Eita who takes 1st place above his teammate, HM|Go1 who achieved 2nd place. In 3rd is VS.FV|KOFMaster with his FANG. In 4th is the legendary RB|Bonchan who is perhaps finding his own strides within the game. The rest of top 8 is YOUDEAL|Yukadon, Shamwow, VS.FV|Chuan, and VS.FV|Shaunw

We also had TRETA 2016 over in Brazil. The winner of that was SFT|Dark817 who takes the first CPT win with Alex. In 2nd is Innova|Keoma who is also starting to show strides in his gameplay. In 3rd is AAG|DidimoKOF and in 4th is FCBR|Ramon. The rest of top 8 was Brook|Misterio, Z4|Hkdesh, SFT|Luvinha, and Brook|Cabelo3000.

And finally we had Fighting Game Challenge 2016 over in Poland. The winner of that was MOV who was unsuccessfully stopped in his invasion of Europe. In 2nd place was RB|Luffy showing off his ever growing consistency. In 3rd we have recurring top 8 player MD|MisterCrimson and in 4th we have another recurring top 8 player in the form of AWS|CCL. The rest of top 8 was PxP|Problem X, PandaTV|Dark Jiewa, PRKS|Packz, and Ryan Hart.

Ok seriously if you're not watching ESL right now and you like street fighter you are missing out.

Notable events so far:
Commander Jesse beats Julio to send him to losers
Brolynho beats Infiltration to send him to losers
Kbrad goes super close against Kazunoko
Mago beats Daigo
alucarD beats Xian
Commander Jesse double perfects Mago in the first game in losers top 12 (and eliminates Mago afterwards)

We have 3 CPT tournaments going on this weekend as well as another interesting event.

First off we have the Abuget Cup 2016 down in Jakarta, Indonesia. Expect top Asian players such as Go1, Yukadon, Eita, and Bonchan to be in attendance.

Stream: twitch.tv/beastapac
Bracket: http://challonge.com/abugetcup2016

Over in Europe we have Fighting Games Challenge 2016 in Poland. You can expect top European player presence but you can't predict the appearances of PandaTV|Dark Jiewa and MOV. It should be an interesting tournament to say the least.

Stream: http://www.hitbox.tv/streetfighterpolska
Bracket: TBA

And finally we have TRETA 2016 down south in Brazil. Expect the usual Brazilian players with the addition of Brook|Misterio.

Stream: http://twitch.tv/trtarcade
Bracket: TBA

And finally the other event I was talking about. ESL's Brooklyn Beatdown. This tournament has gathered the world's top talent for a super sweet prize pool of 75k$. Players to note are Infiltration, Kazunoko, Phenom, NuckleDu, Justin Wong, Xian, and I believe Daigo is supposed to be here but there's like twitchcon and stuff so idk. In any case it should be a super stacked tournament. Other names such as Mago, Snake Eyez, Ricki Ortiz, and Haitani could shake up the entire event as well.

Here is a full list of the notable competitors and I have put in bold who I think has the potential to win it all.

801 Strider
Alioune
alucarD
Arturo Sanchez
Brolynho
Coach Steve
DaFeetLee

flatlinecirca is actually a pretty legit sponsor, they have a CSGO team and sponsor some smash people as well

gj to meat market

To add onto that they also have 2 of the top 10 Killer Instinct players right now. Also a pretty strong SFV player, top 10 UMVC3 player, one of the best Tekken players in the USA, and like all the best American Pokken Tournament players.

#138 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

This weekend we have premier event EGX 2016 happening over in Birmingham, England. Winner of this event will get another ticket to Capcom Cup 2016 later this year. Intercontinental players such as GamerBee, Daigo Umehara, Bonchan, Snake Eyez, Nuki, and KBrad are in attendance. The European guard consists of players such as Ryan Hart, Phenom, Luffy, Problem X, CCL, Will2pac, and Mister Crimson are also in attendance. Should be a decent tournament.
pools already started today i forgot sry :(

EGX 2016 ended with ZW|GamerBee taking his 2nd premier of the tournament season. Perhaps this is the rise of the new top player of the game? Capcom Cup will likely be the decided. In any case, in 2nd place was Ryan Hart who continues to show off his experience. In 3rd place is CBZ|Nuki who is bringing back even more old school to the top 8 here. In 4th place is BST|Daigo Umehara who has also shown signs of returning to his former glory. The rest of top 8 were Will2Pac, BX3|Phenom, UM|Hurricane, and PRLS|Packz

Stream: twitch.tv/capcomfighters
Bracket: http://egx.challonge.com/EGX_CPT_2016

We also have Never Give Up happening this weekend over in Chile. While I would agree in saying "why do I care," apparently Tokido and Dark Jiewa are going. Grand finals should be a decent game along with seeing how the best of Latin America handles these players could be interesting.

A very interesting turn events over at Never Give Up 2016 as the winner of the tournament was PandaTV| Dark Jiewa. Everyone thought 2nd place Tokido would be the victor but that was evidently not the case. In 3rd place is SOA|Brolynho who has shown many times that he is in the top echelon of his region. In 4th is DM|Saga with his Guile, the only player thus far to break top 4 with only Guile (Ryan Hart used Ken as well). The rest of top 8 were AnV|Chipp, PHD|Animetal, DM|Baek, and TSD-GX|Pikoro.
