#149 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

I think they'll start doing it once the players have really really established themselves since they did this on the second half of SF4's time period to pick the super legit people.

Plus they still have the 5v5 event which is always the unique part of Canada Cup to me.

(god please make them host Canada Cup in Calgary again :( )

#147 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

I believe they took it out to make room for the stretch goals for their matcherino donations. The donations go towards the pot bonus and they have a bunch of pretty cool events lined up if they meet the goals

The 2 goals that have been met are Infiltration vs. Everyone exhibition and also the Daigo vs. John Takeuchi FT10 Exhibition.

The rest of the goals are a SFV Pro Draft Crew battle feat. a bunch of top players and I suppose captains making teams to win. The goal after that is a Q&A panel with a bunch of top players as well and after that the goal gives us a Top player analysis panel. The last 2 goals are a VIP after party stream with top players idk what that exactly means and the final goal at 10k$ is a bunch of players will sing Karaoke.

You can check that out here https://matcherino.com/b/tournament/4203

#145 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

We've got a couple events starting to wrap up the Capcom Pro Tour here.

First is the final premier of the tour, Canada Cup. Taking place in Toronto this will be the last chance and a nail biter for anyone in the lower half of the points leaderboards.

Stream is at twitch.tv/capcomfighters

Canada Cup 2016 has ended with Liquid|Nuckledu taking 1st place. This is very significant for the USA since USA has not won a premier event for a long long time now in either SF4 or SFV. In 2nd place was Qanba Douyou|Xiao Hai who in the past has always had trouble with Nuckledu. In 3rd place was BX3|Phenom who dunked his way to victory. In 4th place is yung prodigy /r/Kappa|John Takeuchi with his brilliant Rashid. The rest of top 8 was RB|Bonchan, RN|Alex Myers, OR|Nuki, and BST|Daigo Umehara. (when memers places above Daigo lmao)

Very significant event here. USA wins a premier event, Xiao Hai who was thought to be the best in the world gets absolutely destroyed by Nuckledu. Also the fact that there were 4 Japanese players in Top 8 and yet none of them hit Top 3. Things are going to be interesting for Capcom Cup.

We also have the Latin America Regional finals to determine who will make it into Capcom Cup through the LA region.

These are the players qualified and also the players who I think have the best chance to win are bolded.
RobKOF
Misterio
Chris Tatarian
K-Brad
Ericke Piquet da S. Maciel
Kusanagi
Will2Pac
Baek
Brolynho
DR Ray
Gama
Crossover
Dark Jiewa
Dark817

Stream will be either at twitch.tv/capcomfighters or twitch.tv/capcomunitybr

The winner of the Latin America finals is DR Ray. There will now be guaranteed Claw and Dominican Republic representation at Capcom Cup.

flatlinethis LFT is a year old guys

For all we know he could still be on that bench with his laptop, waiting until someone replies to his LFT. All this time he has been scratching the surface of the bench with extreme precision to provide for a make shift mousepad, waiting for the faithful day where he would get picked up. Truly an inspiration.

#24 AGDQ 2017 in Off Topic

Looking forward to Doom, Salt and Sanctuary, Dark Souls 3, and Furi. Fingers crossed though since most of the games I look forward to the runner is really monotone and I eventually just mute them and listen to music while I watch which has been the case for like the past two years.

#144 Capcom Pro Tour in Esports

There are a couple events happening this weekend which determine who get into Capcom Cup.

First off is the Redbull Battle Grounds over in Seattle, USA. Being a regional event the following players will be in attendance due to qualifications:

Chris Tatarian
Julio Fuentes
Justin Wong
NuckleDu
Filipino Champ
Flash
Ricki Ortiz
XsK|Samurai
EG|K-Brad
F3|Alucard
CoinUp|Ludovic
/r/Kappa|John Takeuchi
ANBU|Punk
PG|RayRay

Again, the players I have bolded are the ones most likely to win and are the ones to look out for. If you're wondering why some of these players qualified when Justin Wong won so many tournaments in the USA, it is because the qualifying spot trickles down the placements if 1st place already qualifies for the NA Regional Final.

I MADE A MISTAKE. Last weekend was Rebull Proving Grounds which simply allows the winner to go to the Regional finals somehow. The winner of that was ChrisG

Stream will be at twitch.tv/capcomfighters

Also happening this weekend is FV Cup over in Malaysia. This is 1 of 2 events happening in Asia over the weekend. This is the last chance for many just outside of qualifying to get into Capcom Cup. Even Ryan Hart is going. Other players include Kazunoko, Sako, Xian, HumanBomb, Yukadon, and Bonchan. Stacked tournament for sure.

Stream: twitch.tv/beastapac

FV Cup has ended with Hori|Sako taking 1st place. In 2nd was GGP|Kazunoko with the most aggressive Cammy so far out of the top Cammy's. In 3rd is HuomaoTV|HumanBomb continuing his strong play from USF4 and in 4th is YOUDEAL|Yukadon. The rest of top 8 was RB|Bonchan, EQ|Marn, Tse4444, and Seed^SKZ

We also have (or had, I believe) the Online Asia tournament. Not really sure if this ended or not because I fell asleep to it last night and I don't know if that was Top 8 or not but I think MOV won. Will keep you posted if he did.

Ok yeah so that online tournament did happen and MOV did in fact win. In 2nd is Hong Kong online warrior Chris Wong who beat a ton of top players in loser's bracket to make it here. In 3rd is Korea's own NL and in 4th is Tokido The rest of top 8 was /r/Kappa|XYZZY, SC|Poongko, LikeWhiteBread, and Ponzaman.

#23 Civilization VI in Other Games

The way the game handles is clunky at times but at the very least I'm enjoying the peacetime tasks in the game so far. The redone political system and the addition of districts and revamping workers works fairy well without it feeling like a gimmick. The only thing underwhelming is the Civs themselves. It feels like some Civs are just plain better than others (so far Rome, Kongo, and China seem very strong compared to like France).

Overall it's fun, especially for a base Civ game. I hope it can only go up from here like Civ 5.

edit: id also like to add that barbarians are also REALLY FUCKING STRONG in this game. Had to fight off 10 units from 1 camp like really?

#11 why didn't the late napoleonic era grenadiers in Off Topic

From my understanding grenadiers didn't use grenades due to a shift in French military doctrine. They focused much less on the use of siege tactics and much more on the destruction of armies. As a result this made French wars very costly and there was always a need for senior officers. Thus, every campaign the French army took the strongest and tallest of the surviving men of one previous campaign and promoted then to the rank of Grenadier.

To the French, the term Grenadier was more of a title rather than a specialization. They were considered the elite line of infantry and were used to make decisive offensives during battles.

tl;dr Grenadier was more of a title than a specialization and the French did not use grenades too much since they wanted to kill armies instead of siege positions.

I'm not an expert but that's just from my knowledge. (oh and they started using grenades post-napoleon anyway since trench warfare became really huge in Europe)
