#34 The Savior of Team Fortress 2 in TF2 General Discussion
the_fuckingidiotyou play UGC because its free, if you have the time in your life to grind 80+hrs/2weeks for 6v6, you can definitely throw down the ~30$ it costs to play a season of ESEA, you aren't fooling anyone kid.

You don't need to play 80 hours a week to improve and thats especially true if youre UGC level. You might improve faster if youre not the type of person that gets burnt out but you really don't need to play 40 hours a week to get better. There's nothing wrong with a free league and I don't blame new players who probably arent even sure if they like 6v6 yet for not wanting to pay for a whole season, especially if theyre extremely unlikely to do well.

I'm guilty of this myself, but I would really like for higher level players to stop using ugc as a way to fuck around with lower level players. Most of the people are there to get better and its discouraging and a waste of their time when they get rolled by sandbaggers running huntsman and spy to mid. If you're going to stop UGC, at least stomp them properly so they can hopefully learn from you.

#74 dave, take it easy on dem' pubbers in Off Topic

did you guys somehow forget that

nopemghughlaurieDusteeYou guys sure do have a lot of built up anger over a peaceful community that is about having fun instead of topfragging.
your community kicked a good player that was playing the game how it's intended because he was killing bad players that won't even change class, weapons, or even going out a different spawn path to counter the stickys that kill them which aren't even on the spawn door to begin with. there are only 2 classes that have no weapon or method of getting past stickys which is medic and sniper.
Sniper can run smg or can pronoscope the stickies, medic can crouch on them and melee them (and considering where dave was it was probably somewhat safe to do so considering no actual line of sight)
In any case, every class can counter stickies, it's called wasd. In this case wasd your way out one of the three other spawn exits, lol

theres also this thing that medic can do called "supercharge" or something idk

http://mylesmoist.bandcamp.com/album/rolling-backpack-racecar-bed

Its called "rolling backpack racecar bed". Most of the songs are about girls and fast food so its pretty deep stuff. All of the songs are really long so make sure you get into a nice comfortable spot before you start listening.

#12 What are you Thankful for? in Off Topic

my aunt told me she didnt want me to risk driving in the snow with shitty thanksgiving traffic so she told me to stay home. I've never really driven in the snow before and I don't think now is a good time to learn anyway. I was looking forward to seeing them but now I get to stay home, eat fried chicken, sm0k3 w33d and watch animu1!!1!!

I'm confused about this whole thing and I don't know what to believe. From what I've read there were some eye-witness reports that got the media all riled up but they were later proven false due to inconsistencies and an autopsy.

who do i believe plz help

#25 Scout LFT <Unknown>? in Recruitment (looking for team)

most people play on teams where they are just as skilled as their teammates. a lot of teams have a key player or two but for the most part everyone is pretty much equal. it makes a lot of sense too. if everyone is at the same level then nobody is going to get kicked for being bad and nobody will leave because they know they can join a way better team. it helps strengthen the longevity of a team. i do agree with you about a season of open looking better than a season of ugc iron 6v6 though. maybe i'm just a little ignorant about how a season of ugc actually plays out because ive never been on a serious ugc team.

smoboplaying at your actual level is "defeatist", capn, but it you try to look for an IM team without placing in open god help you

is this a personal attack on me because ive never placed in open </3

#22 Scout LFT <Unknown>? in Recruitment (looking for team)

Rj, what you're saying makes sense if the other team is just a little better than yours, but do you really think people actually learn when the other team is so much better that they don't even have to play correctly to win? I know that when I'm playing people that are way below my skill level that I can do every everything I'm not supposed to do and get away with it. He'll just be learning strats that only work on people way worse than him. If playing teams that much better than mine worked i'd go pm b4nny and say "hey moneymatch!?!". There's nothing wrong with taking babysteps. He'll also have way more fun playing teams where he actually has a chance to win and he will still learn from those matches too. Some people can handle getting rolled every match for a whole season but if he's just starting out he needs a chance to develop some passion for the game before getting too serious about becoming the best. I'm guessing a lot of players get really discouraged from the game after they pay 50 bucks to get rolled 16 matches straight.
