#22 My second frag video (feedback appreciated) in TF2 General Discussion
Scoffer_dammit skybox

Is it a good thing or bad thing? I had a hard time deciding whether or not to use a skybox but I felt like at some points the gray sky was kind of boring.

justinPeople keep posting about how TF2 lighting and colors are perfect and no one should use color correction. You need to use some form of color correction if you want to mimic vanilla colors, during the dubbing/encoding process information is lost and the colors are dulled.

This is what I felt like as well after making my first video. Plus, I rendered as wmv (not sure if this is the best) and the colors didn't look so great.

GrImpartialWas pretty good in terms of frags and pace, next step would be to add colour correction and smooths.

OK, thanks, I still need to look into smoothing.

GeknaiirJust out of curiosity, how much fps was this recorded at? Movement seemed really choppy for me at least.

60 fps, but unfortunately I don't have a way of recording with any higher fps.

#1 My second frag video (feedback appreciated) in TF2 General Discussion

Hey tf.tv, I made my second frag video recently.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ktsu0_jJeA

I came here last time to ask for feedback (http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/7996-my-first-frag-video-feedback-appreciated/) and ended up using a lot of the suggestions as they were helpful, so any advice/comments would be great.

gr8stalinThis was legitimately really cool, the Engie and Heavy/Kritz parts especially. Only gripe I had was the length of the slow-mo in parts.

Someone else also mentioned their problem with the slow-mo parts to me. Thanks for the tip.

nataponhow big is the community in china?

I think it used to be bigger but a lot of players switched to Dota 2. I'd say we have about 30 regulars these days on the pug server with some others who occasionally play.

kirbyAs for the video, I enjoyed it. I do agree on making your transitions better. Don't be afraid to use smooths for every transition if you want (I mean there are plenty of other ways to transition, but smooths seem to be generally pleasing to everyone). The one thing I do want to point out is that you're using slow motion with a framerate lower than 240. The problem with that is slow motion honestly looks bad no matter who does it if it's a lower framerate than 240. 120 slow motion isn't bad but it's still hard to look at. Not sure what you recorded at, but if it actually is 240 then I don't know why it's like that :x

Either way 10/10, would watch forever.

Thanks for the fps tip. I was never quite sure how fps really affected recordings.

WaldoThese are some of the ballsiest plays I have ever seen, are any of these from officials, or just pugs?

Pugs and scrims. Can't really play in official leagues here due to ping. :/

arkonwhy are there 3 enemy soldiers in the first clip?

Yeah that confused me too when I rewatched it. I think there was a glitch with the server tournament mode or something when two players both tried to switch to soldier at once.

natapononly 1 server? what do you guys ping to the hk pug servers? as far as i know, you guys seem quite detached from the rest of the asian tf2 community.

I can't speak for the rest of the Chinese players but for the Shanghai ones we get over 200 for HK/KR servers (and AFL servers) which really sucks.

BubbaMain thing I would say, is add some color correction, and some transitions. Weather its a slide or a fade, it looks much better then 1 clip after the next. Didnt really like how you put the music and the "all frags are from 6v6 games" in huge text at the beginning

work on syncing other parts of the song, and use srcdemo2

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to figure out what srcdemo2 is.

KaeyelSpy play was amazing.

Do consider using Lawena when you record your clips. Don't really want to see a crosshair in middle of a clip :p

I actually did use Lawena. As for the crosshair, I'm not too sure about whether I should keep it on or not in recorded clips since people seem divided on that issue. I personally like it since it shows aiming better.

MYLESBiggest complaint, fast forwarding through frags, then doing a slow-mo on the kill. Transition between each clip could have been better.

Other than that, I love it :>

I tried to sort of keep a sync but I guess I'll have to take this into consideration for next time.

Thanks!

#1 My first frag video (feedback appreciated) in TF2 General Discussion

Hey tf.tv, I just made my first frag video (featuring all 9 classes used in 6v6 play).

www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZJRvsrLnhU

Frags are all from the small 6s community here in China on our single pug/scrim server.

This video is more for showcasing some fun/cool kills than anything else.

Feedback is appreciated!

#19 Will a Mouse Make Me Good in Hardware

It won't necessarily make you good, but it will definitely make you better.

When I was thinking about getting a gaming mouse, it always annoyed me that people didn't post examples/experiences of how the mouse helped them.

When I got my mouse, I was around the stage in TF2 where I could at least play most classes at a pretty good level (3500 hours). I got a deathadder from a friend and after the initial getting-used-to-it period, I'd have to say it definitely helped me improve. Aiming felt smoother and hitscans were easier to use with the deathadder than my old common dell mouse. The biggest change I saw was in my sniping. I used to be awful at it, but now I'm good enough to at least play it in a decent pug without getting yelled at.

Plus, it's more comfortable and it has 2 extra buttons that I can bind stupid stuff to.

Basically, if you're willing to spend some money, you should get one. At the very least, it will help you improve faster. I definitely think what people say about not being able to use a normal mouse after using a gaming mouse is true.
