i remember when it came out everyone was talking about the joker. not christian bale, not michael caine, not gary oldman, not morgan freeman. every conversation was about the joker (or how the batmobile turned into a motorcycle, depending on the age group).

ever since dc got lucky as shit with heath ledger theyve been trying to take some huge risk every single movie trying to get lucky again and havent really put any thought or effort or money into actually making it a good film

they still have claim to the best piece of superhero cinema (and probably a majority of the top 10 if you count animated features) but theyre not gonna be able to replicate it with their current strategy
