comp tf2 is a relatively tiny and non-publicized community. it is therefore very reasonable for people outside that community to see it as "dead", and I don't blame him for saying so.
it is also easy to call tf2 dead as an esport because of the tiny prize pools. that doesn't make the game dead or bad, as long as the community can continue to support itself.
