Laptop Cooling Mat

I use a Targus HD3 Chill Mat. It came in a deal with my laptop, it's kind of expensive otherwise. Works good and fits larger laptops just fine.

Laptop for TF2

thrasherI picked up a Toshiba Qosmio with 120hz 17" screen for around $1000 last year on newegg. Look for refurbished ones. Most of the time it's not even used. With mine, the box was damaged in shipping and they had to put it in a new box. Never used. 45% off.
seconding the qosmio series, bought one 3 years ago and it still runs 60fps+ on a modified dx9frames
had to replace the hard drive last winter, and there are some issues with portability (size, weight, heat) but it's worked good.
