you don't make it to the top of invite without spending several thousand hours practicing your DM
and the only people from your stock list that actually have noticeably better DM than your original list are mike and platinum and MAYBE kaptain and banny

some people made the switch to original and kept with it, some switched back and some never switched
it really is that simple
as for why there is more people who switched in NA, it's simply because some people started a trend and stuck with it and the rest followed on later

If the medigun pickup is not changed before next season, it should probably be banned for the sake of gameplay
like bloodsire pointed out there is a lot of potential for the mechanic to be cool but currently it is heavily flawed and really removes more than it adds.

however it's pretty obvious why it's a bad idea to work against things valve is implementing if they are really trying to add mm / help the comp community etc
