the best way ive found to swap configs is create two custom folders (custom_cast and custom_config) and use a symbolic link (windows documentation on symlinks), on linux you can do similar but this is windows specific (maybe someone who cares more can make a gui for it like hamaham posted just so people don't have to write scary code themselves, would have to prompt for the two tf folders and ask launch options)
** RENAME CUSTOM BEFORE RUNNING THESE or else your entire custom folder will be deleted, otherwise u can add a test if the custom folder is a symlink following this if you really want to be safe
cast_on.bat
rmdir "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom"
mklink /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom_cast"
cast_off.bat
rmdir "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom"
mklink /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom_config"
i also created two shortcuts to hl2.exe in the same directory as these .bat files which I could double click to launch tf2 with my regular launch options or my cast launch options (u can follow this guide) in order to avoid typing -insecure and changing dxlevel every time
if you wanna go crazy you can also do a symlink for your %APPDATA%\roaming\obs-studio folder so that you can have an entirely different OBS setup (stream keys, plugins, everything) for casting and for regular streaming, may be easier to just use the profiles thing in OBS but if you have all these batch files in one folder you can just double click all the casting related ones and it's super easy, then double click the ones to swap back once you're done
hold on what's going on here

as long as u have a decent pc and internet u can definitely learn how to produce, just have to reach out to the right people and there's loads of documents and stuff setting it up (i produced a few invite matches way back in like 2017 and it was fun)
that said having someone actually knowledgeable about competitive is nice so they know when to go on the people about to sack and stuff like that, but anyone really can do it and do an okay job
was trying to find that one to post, classic^
does the position you're in get affected just by the unique connections you have? not sure if it does this already but it would be cool if it biased where you're positioned by the number of logs shared with people around you
I played one weekend cup and rang like 2 nights for yosh team and am solidly in the group with other invite people despite having played advanced scout for the last like 2 months (maybe there is a way to more heavily weigh playing on the same team as someone, would be cool to see clusters of teams that get put close to other teams they scrim a lot for example)
euros who think snakewater is hard to push out of
okay ima be real man if u have a 'team' of people where 3 out of 5 can make the weekly practices, that's not a team
i think you're too focused on the idea of having a team when all you need is to find people vaguely the same skill level to practice with, don't need to commit to anything either just find non toxic people (hopefully that teamfinder helps) and just play the game and forget this team stuff for now, it will just give you headaches trying to organize people, getting frustrated when it dies, etc.
at the end of the day you're playing a game for fun just try to find some enjoyment out of it and don't get all stressed about not having a team, as someone who grinded tf2 and got the dReAm of being pRoFeSsIoNaL (lol dead game), sure it is satisfying and nice to play with people who aren't toxic but it really is not that important of a thing to strive towards, finding people who are genuinely nice to play the game and aren't going to shit talk you is MUCH more important
edit: also dude why on earth would you want to COACH a beginner level team, just play the game dude you don't have some sort of genius gamesense to even be able to coach a team until you are much higher skill level than them, just so unnecessary even thinking of a coach when you're just silver 4 or whatever
I would also add to what doughy said that medics should make decisions themselves based on what is going on in the uber, if theirs is shorter and things don't look good to them, call halfway through the uber that you are leaving. Relying on a combo scout or demo to call post ubers is a pretty bad idea, even in invite it doesn't happen that often and it will screw you over on a new team.
As a medic you can see who your scout and demo are shooting, see the enemy team much better as you aren't focusing on killing things, and see the health of your teammates (and enemies thanks to solemn vow), the only information missing is what your combo scout intends to do. By all means if the scout or demo wants to collapse or chase people after the uber is over they should call that, but most of the time it is better for the medic to say what he intends to do (e.g., commit top left, tell scout to play point, etc.)
I think in general as a medic it is important to take advantage of the fact that you aren't a DM class and don't have to focus on aiming, and use that to dictate how ubers are going as a stream of consciousness, giving as much information to your team as you can since it is miles easier than the combo scout who is trying to kill people as fast as possible. Main calling pushes and commits during dry fights and stuff like that definitely goes to the maincaller, but most things uber related can be called by a medic and if you practice it and get a good feel for it, it will help your team a lot.
Also I feel like the best way to do this would be to have this initial guide, turn it into little video chunks (with topics for each one so you can skip what you already know), and then get experienced medics to talk about more advanced topics like intricacies of ubers. Nursey had some really good map guides for medic but then deleted them all so there is definitely an opening for content like that, I think if you are keen and willing to do some editing and organizing you could definitely get people to help you out with things.
Marxist's precepts of medic and '10 ubers' videos were great and something more updated to scout speed meta would be super helpful. If you found examples of stuff like good and bad pushes, good and bad ubers, baiting too hard vs not baiting enough, etc. and recorded them I would be happy to talk about them and say what was done well/poorly (plenty of other meds like skeez would probably be down as well if you reached out). TF2 is so fast paced and there are so many little details that I don't think can really ever be conveyed by a bunch of paragraphs, the best way to help people is definitely to do videos with examples for more advanced things.
zx37bearodactyltheyre trying so hard to be apple but will fail miserably lmao it's sadwhat are you getting at with this? windows has much better usability in most cases and most of the new stuff im seeing is improving on windows' strengths, not copying apple's. are you talking about the more minimal design or focus on native apps, or something else i haven't heard about?
i just meant if u go on their site it literally looks like a macbook and a shitty approximation for the new mac os with rounded corners for everything
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11
someone better get to the bottom of this and do some A/B testing on various different types of servers and find which combinations lead to 41 metal and then alert the engi mains, that one extra metal means running mini sentry engi full time is viable
never had this bug sounds like a windows dual monitor issue but if its only an issue with mumble that is p weird, i would imagine windowed borderless fixes the issue right? cause fullscreen locks the mouse and it probably thinks youre still tabbed in for some weird reason
