#50 Tf2 update 07/01/15 in TF2 General Discussion
kaidusHave no idea why mustardoverlord is getting downvoted so hard. I wouldn't say the nerf needs reverting entirely, but it makes absolutely no sense to have the old damage falloff with the new radius nerf. Demo originally had very little damage fall off so it was nerfed with the old radius in mind. The new radius and "skill" required to hit long range stickies justifies a reduction in the falloff imo - not like it was before todays update with 100+ damage winbombs from across the map, but something like 70 as the absolute max (so 50-60 is a "decent hit" rather than 35-40). I dunno, it just doesn't seem worth it to even use long range stickies now apart from some very specific situations, really does not justify the 5 seconds it takes to shoot each one.

What about Kritz? Or for buildings? Why is it bad that long-range stickies are only good in specific situations?

Stickies are supposed to be best at mid-range and for traps (and they are). I don't see why Demo needs to be rewarded for skill even more. He has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game. Sometimes you DO need a restriction on skill to make things fair...

It's only been ~9 hours since fall-off got fixed. Play it out for now. I don't think much will change.

you're retarded if you think stock tf2 was anywhere near balanced. retard. doesn't matter if thought was put into it when the end result was imbalance.

WariComp TF2 players want to stick to as close as possible to release mechanics. Release TF2 was a crafted experience that rewarded getting better with easily predictable and readable player silhouettes.

With TF2, Valve carelessly added new weapons and mechanics that go against the carefully balanced game that they set out to create after 9 years of development.

Because I like to steer those of pure intentions but misguided opinions down the right path :)

What would you like to talk about Benk?

fists are not balanced because they are underpowered. gru is fine, but it would cause people to play heavy which is degenerate gameplay in the eyes of many 6s players.

like, there's a distinction between op and not fun. i think the latter being a ban reason is fucking stupid and anti-competitive, but that's not what the thread is about, so i'll drop it.

more on topic: A:R - if people are willing to play it at a high level, it will be played at a high level. why not let it grow a bit? lots of interested players on reddit, ugc, etc.

These aren't complicated rules by any means:

Arena: Respawn is a modification of TF2's Arena gamemode developed as an alternative to sixes. Your goal is to eliminate the enemy team as quickly as possible. There are no respawn timers, but you can capture the central control point to respawn the dead members of your team.

Camping the point while you already own it will result in a minicrit debuff until you leave the capture area. The only weapon banned from play is the Vaccinator; all other weapons in the game are allowed, and players are encouraged to experiment with different loadouts and strategies.

Please, anything is going to be "frustrating and stupid!!!" because it's new and video game players think they know what other video game players find fun. Being mad or confused that eXtv is trying out something new reeks of a victim complex.

KevinIsPwnNonono, it's a straight upgrade from stock in any form of competitive. As a heavy in 6s, you will never pull out your melee, meaning you'll never deal with any of the negatives of GRU, meaning it's a straight upgrade.

Yeah, and? Not like his Fists are balanced

KevinIsPwnI can't tell if this is a troll or not because that's really not a reasonable thing to say but neither are the other things in your post.

It's the truth, but since you're on the inside it's not apparent to you. I mean just by definition... the way the rules are set up it is most definitely a hugbox. Soldier gets his funstick but Heavy doesn't get his fungloves, because everyone in the hugbox plays Soldier and no one plays Heavy...see? No hurt feelings and baby gets his rattle.

And for A:R: Of course it hasn't been played competitively at a high level - It's new. Oh except for those casted matches with the high level players

no seriously, why do you think 6s has so few players? great if you think these people are retarded, but if you want new players you'd better start listening. it's not like these are one-offs. people have been saying the same thing for years.

if you don't care about new players, by all means keep playing 6s as is, but you're missing out on a bigger audience.

lvl4the fact is that most people would rather have the game be high skill and incredibly DM heavy rather than strategic and class heavy because it ends up being more engaging for most players.

awfully strange for a class-based team game where you win via caps not frags

do we really know that "most" people actually prefer this emphasis? it keeps the same players coming back (though not as of late), sure, but i've read plenty of people who would join if only it were for X or Y...

Yeah

Myself and anyone with a background in competition find it difficult to call that "competitive"

And that just leads to Soldiers having all the fun and Heavies having none

So...what's the difference? It's a bit militant

Plus I thought we're looking to grow 6s? It's unwise to ignore the feedback you've been getting from Valve (possible support) and pubbers (possible converts) for years if you want that. You can hate it but it all comes back to a more inclusive gamemode.

lvl4no one wants to play against heavies
hence his unlocks being blackd

No one = existing 6s players (a small amount of players) (likely not all of them)

which shuts out the many people who probably want to play heavy and don't mind playing against him

Man, since we like real sports comparisons so much, I'm sure real baseball men don't want to stand in the hot sun for hours, but they do because they have to. No one really cares that you hate Heavy, but being competitive means having to do things you don't always like to.
