#3 Dying Graphics Card or Something Else? in Q/A Help
Twiggyyou could try removing the graphics card and use your motherboard video output and see if the issue is still there?

do you have unusual temps on cpu/gpu when the problem starts?

issue doesnt exist if there's no graphics card in the tower or if i have the display drivers disabled

also no, my temps remain normal throughout

#1 Dying Graphics Card or Something Else? in Q/A Help

Alright so about a week or so ago I decided to be a complete fucking retard and put more ram into my motherboard slots that wasn't the same kind of ram I already had installed. The PC would boot up then shut off, so I removed the extra RAM and only went back to my original RAM, but then I ran into a problem.

Ever since then, I've been getting pretty nasty artifacts show up on my desktop/browser/discord (I haven't been on the PC long enough to try to see what happens when I'm playing games.)

It would originally start with my computer loading into a completely black (or sometimes light blue) screen where my PC would be completely frozen and I'd almost never be able to get onto the desktop unless I booted into safe mode or plugged my monitor into the integrated graphics port on my motherboard and disabled/uninstalled my Nvidia drivers.

There would be rare times when my PC would actually make it to the desktop without me having to do anything, but then after the desktop loaded things would glitch and I'd start to see artifacts and then the PC screen would just go black and freeze like before.

I ended up resetting the CMOS by taking the motherboard battery out and placing it back in, and that seemed to help a significant amount, but the problem still persists to a degree.

Now I can load to my desktop without issue every time, and things will appear to be stable, but it will almost always artifact either 10-20 minutes later, although the PC will never freeze anymore.

This is what it looks like when I have chrome open and it decides to artifact. (Thats not my help question, I was just on that page while searching for a solution)

Those little colored pixels on the bottom right blue image show up on my desktop and tab windows when I'm browsing files too. This never happens when I load into bios or start the PC up and only happens after I've loaded the desktop and am making use of my graphics card. It's not like any other kind of artifacting pattern I've seen when searching google, so I don't know how to properly diagnose what the problem is.

So did I somehow fry my graphics card by putting RAM in wrong or is this some other problem? If I had to guess myself I'd say my VRAM went bad somehow from putting the other RAM stick in and it just ended up frying the card, but I honestly have no actual idea and I'd like to know what the problem is before I go out and get another graphics card only to find that this problem would keep happening.

For reference, I've never overclocked the card before and I've only had it for about 3 years, so I know overclocking it isn't the problem, and I've also done a memory test and both my RAM sticks read without issues. Either way, I'd really appreciate some help diagnosing what the problem specifically is as I'd love to start using my gaming PC again cuz I can barely stand playing on this worse rig.

#25 mge cheater in TF2 General Discussion
VisYou are all mental. This is exactly like playing pubs and running into some dude that is cheating, and then posting 10 different links of proof to justify yourself. How are you all getting so triggered over this, it's not official, it's just another community server, the guy does not even have ETF2L or anything which means he is not playing official matches with cheats.

You will be surprised how much you can learn by playing against a cheater, but y'all never gonna find out because all you care about is winning mge, not getting better.
When you learn to stop complaining about everything you might actually get better at the game and not make another one of these 'I feel like I'm getting worse' threads.

You know what you can learn from playing against cheaters? Not to fucking play them because it's a stupidly unrealistic scenario that is so far removed from anything you would EVER run into in any properly supported competitive league that it's literally stupid to even suggest.

Valve doesn't ban these assholes so its up to the community to alert proper server owners to get them removed. That's why people are posting "10 different links of proof to justify themselves".

Tell ya what. Since you believe playing against cheaters is a learning experience, feel free to allow them to play in every ultiduo tournament you help organize from this point forward. They're not ETF2L or ESEA officials, so what's the problem? All these terrible players gotta learn at some point right?

#19 Hackers in dm in TF2 General Discussion
ShearsTo throw out just a few analogies:
-If people want to rob your house badly enough they will find a way in, but that doesn't mean you stop locking your doors or that you disable your security system, because those will still continue to keep out the common criminal!
-If a hacker wants your data badly enough they will find a way around your antivirus software -- but that doesn't mean that you should disable it, saying that there's "no point!"
-It was a long time before wearing a seatbelt in a car became a legal requirement in the U.S.. Nowadays, you will still have the occasional idiot who doesn't wear one (notably including my older brother, who rolled a pickup without a seatbelt when he was 16 and was lucky to escape without serious injury), but since the law requiring seatbelts passed, deaths and injuries from car crashes in the US dropped dramatically.

You know what the difference between all these examples you listed is and the issue I'm bringing up? Not only are the scenarios listed far more serious than arguing over a server setting in a videogame, but none of these scenarios require you to even operate at a loss afterwords. They're no-brainer decisions. There are literally only benefits from protecting your house/data/wearing a seat-belt.

You enable the level restriction to keep out a few hackers and suddenly all the people who used to frequent DM with a steam account below level 5 no longer get to play there and the server stays empty for far longer into the evening/night.

YeeHawAptsince people are cheating in DM regardless can we lift the steam level restriction so the servers are actually alive before 7pm?You will probably open the floodgates to hackers if you do this

if people want to cheat that badly they're going to find a way to bypass the requirement anyways like mister funnybunny up there. these are the same people who throw away money to cheat in the first place, so what's a few more bucks for a leveled steam account?

NA DM is more dead than now from the level requirement than it ever was because some 12 year old decided to test his premium cheats there.
