#1 Free-4-All Tournament Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

So those of you that participated know what this is all about, those who don't or aren't sure, the eGO community hosted a TF2 Free-4-All tournament last September in which SteveC came out on top as the winner. We made all of our own plugins and website to manage the tournament, and was a great success thanks to our tech team and sponsors being eXtv who casted it and Edge Game Servers who provided our i7 Processor grand prize.

We would like to host another one this year, and any input from you guys that participated more specifically, but if not even we want some input on when you guys think would be the best time to host it, any changes from last year, etc. We are definitely going to fix the MGE final for it, so that it doesnt allow offclassing.

Last year the tournament took place on September 22nd which was a Saturday.

We are thinking the best time would be in the summer for this to happen, and will begin looking for sponsors/prizes/cool stuff now to prepare. I am trying for some gaming gear, headsets mice keyboards and cool stuff like that for prizes.

Here was our website page from last year if you forgot what this was.

#6 Help me get back to TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

Okay thanks, next question, would using the i3 and all of that in the first link be good for running BF3? I know thats a lot more demanding than TF2 is, and since I own the game and havent been able to play it yet, I want something that would be able to run that efficiently.

#3 Help me get back to TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

The only thing that worries me about the first one is the CPU being an i3, I really dont know too much about computer parts and hardware, but what would the difference be with a jump to an i5 other than price of course?

And I can take out the power supply, have one of those already so that would put me under 500 before the monitor.

Thanks for the ideas so far.

#1 Help me get back to TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

So if any of you happened to see that eGO had a looking thread, I am listed as a backup on the roster. Reason being, is my Dell Laptop is a p.o.s that cant run tf2 anymore. Pyro flames, spies cloaking or disguising, and medic beams now are getting to the point of making my computer skip so much that its making it ridiculously hard to play soldier effectively at an IM level.

Yes I use the maxframes configs and run dx8 all that good stuff, but im not getting past 67 fps.

I want to build a new computer, but I am a poor college kid that doesnt have much money. If anyone out there could help me out with building one cheap, I would greatly appreciate it. Madoff and I came up with this basic setup for the build a month ago when it was about $100 cheaper, but the more input and ideas the better.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wUb6

I need everything but a power supply, have a corsair 650W power supply, a mouse and a keyboard. I want to spend no more than $700 if possible, I heard rumors of people making quality desktops around $500 so help me out please and get me back in the game.

Thanks
Wilson!!

#1 HEY ESEA in TF2 General Discussion

Your league/client is broken, YET AGAIN.

Every single match weve played this season, it takes us 40 minutes to start because your client lets random people into the server, and they don't leave for at least 15 minutes. Never can we get our 6th in or the other team, and its ruining shit all the time.

Please fix it, along with your lag problems.

kthxbye

How many mumbles do you hop through when you get drunk?

Apparently not that many since you've made it back to ours 4 times already.

#4 Idea for promoting competitive TF2 in TF2 General Discussion
VickMThey can play with those guys on #pugnahl. I think that channel has a lot of platinum players in it and anyone can join.

Also I think the hardest thing about the newer players playing in the #pugnahl is that the majority of them will take a while to get involved in the mix regularly. Instead they are looking to have fun instead of being super serious all the time, which is why I'd suggest trying to set something up once or twice a month, and having some of the high level players volunteer to participate and make it open to anyone interested just to come play and have fun, meet the players and what not. Even maybe sign a few items for the players, I know of a couple people that really are interested in getting items signed by top level players, and they would gladly provide the items to do so.

#1 Idea for promoting competitive TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

So I had a chat with the eGO highlander team today, and mentioned the thought of setting up a day where I got a couple of higher level competitive players to come and play a couple pugs with them, hang out in mumble with them while they played, kinda like the Newbie Mixes but they pretty much know what they are doing already. Just an idea of simply being involved with a couple players they watch regularly and look up to in the competitive world. I think this would be a great way to help encourage more players to work harder or even just get involved with competitive TF2.

P.S. When I mentioned the idea of getting a couple players to come play with them for a night they immediately were saying "Get us Huey Lewis or get us stabby, those guys are awesome."

There are plenty of lower level players that look up to the higher level players, and this would be a great way to help out the competitive side of being watched and supported.
