MakOne thing I've noticed is some (definitely some, not even a lot or a majority) of the people in these high up community positions hold this community and the game in contempt and act like massive baby power trippers. I can't think of any in ETF2L or even Europe as a whole, and I believe it may be a bigger issue in America, but a few people have come out in this thread only affirming this suspicion of mine.
These people don't play the game, haven't played it in years, and hold nothing but hatred for the average member of their community. I acknowledge that as an admin/leader/organiser you are going to deal with a lot of shit, but only a weak person in a position like that will react to this by going "well, I deal with scumbags all day, anyone that isn't me or with me is the scum of the community!". And ultimately they end up doing the community a disservice. Why put yourself in a position of power or authority if you aren't acting to serve the community?
Idk perhaps I'm reading far too much into this but this has always been my thought process and to see others come out and say it means I can't be the only one to at least perceive the behaviours of some of these people in the that way. Who knows, perhaps they are good faith actors and my own biases make me view them as the complete opposite.
I have seen many people from the older TFTV days actively shit talking or belittling newer members of the community that were wanting to get in to production, start a project etc. It feels like the same people you're mentioning have a vice grip on the higher part of TF2 and aren't willing to let go, thus making incredibly out of touch decisions that affect the community as a whole.
