think it's obvious now that national
support is at an all time high and people believe now after all the memes that england might actually have a
chance at winning the
overall thing,
my personal thought
is that we might
not actually
go all the way, but making the semis is still pretty good given englands aboslute appalling run in 2016 and 2014
however, lots of the
other teams we beat had lots of critics beforehand saying "wait till you play a good team like X, you'll get knocked out"
maybe it's just one of those cups where the teams with big names haven't taken it as seriously as
everyone else, expecting to breeze through. But at the end of the day england are at least 4th place in the world cup

Is this true and if so can somebody explain why this is the case? I visit this site pretty often but I still miss these announcement threads being on the sidebar because other, more interactive threads take over very quickly and as a team leader it'd be helpful if one of the sites I visit the most was the place that I find out about these cups because I've very nearly missed out on them a couple of times now if it weren't for teammates reminding me.
Hey, sorry for slow reply, the eutf2 killer known as the world cup took up my attention too.
We've haven't pinned for 3 reasons.
1. Too many Pinned Threads:
We had a load (8+) of pinned global threads a while back and have been trying to limit the amount we set at a time. Having too many limits the recent posts tool and dilutes other sometimes more important threads.
2. Common Pins lower activity instead of promote:
Pretty strange I know but my theory is people get used to having certain pins there for a while and won't check out the content. It also makes it harder to know if the thread has been bumped with new posts as instead of shooting up in the order to show activity, it just stays in the same place. ALSO it really hurts Essentials.TF posts most because if we did keep global pinning every new monthly cup, at a glance it will look like the old cup posts, mostly leading to people glossing over it.
3. We put them on the Event Ticker:
Dude why do you want a boring global pin when you can be on BOOM THE SICK UPCOMING EVENTS BAR, BOOM ITS HIGHER, BOOM ITS GOT A COUNTDOWN, BOOM IT COMES EQUIPPED WITH STANDARD DETAILS DATE AND TIME TEMPLATE THINGY...EPIC. behold as i showcase it's longterm promotion power by editing their latest cup 2nd date.
