wrechedddddfragile, yes they are normally 60 or more anywhere else, cheapest I could find on ebay was like 50 and they had a shit ton of bids. thats why for 30ish bucks I could have a pair.
Another thing I don't understand is that they have a bunch of different kinds, lol. I would imagine that some are probably more vibrant / magnify better than others, but it seems kinda weird / shady to me.
I remember destro tried on a pair at an ETS LAN or something, and he said that they make everything look a little more vibrant and also magnify a bit. They are a bit expensive though, yet they probably don't give you any kind of real edge.
wrechedddddanyways, i often experience eye fatigue while i play but that could be due to lack of sleep/old eye prescription/using a crt.just wondered what anyone else thought. since its been 2+ years since ive heard of them last.
Actually, I also experience eye fatigue, especially late at night. As you said, this is probably due to lack of sleep and a few other things, but I can't imagine that these glasses would fix that.

I'm pretty sure these are the only two important commands to make it so they work. Make sure to put it to these values before you start your game, because the shadows will be giant blobs if you change them mid-game. However, I don't think there's a way to make it so you can only have player shadows. Even then, you won't confuse any shadow with a player shadow unless you're trying to gain FPS.
And yes, these commands are important for competitive play. There is no reason not to use them.

I had a few people taunt me or type something silly after they killed me, which I think it's okay and even funny when they kill me or another coach who has a bunch of experience. I had no problem with this. However, a newbie player taunting another newbie player can be funny, but I can see people taking it personal in a setting where everyone should be trying their best to learn, not trying to brag about how their sick shotgun kill should be known by everyone in the server. Of course, I'm not saying any newbie who taunts is automatically trying to brag, but I think everyone should remain fairly chill and humble between each other when everyone is trying to learn the game better.

I bought these as well as some good RAM, so pretty much everything is set except that I haven't put everything in my computer. However, I didn't buy a new video card yet. I'm considering sticking with my GTX 280 in the meantime. Will this hold me down a lot? It runs all of my games at a very desirable FPS, but I don't know how demanding video cards are for streaming.
As mentioned in the original post, the only game I truly care about streaming here is TF2 and source engine games in general. Streaming some Super Street Fighter 4 would also be cool but not absolutely mandatory.

I agree with this entirely. Documentaries are my favorite kind of videos, and I think any kind of teaser on a documentary is almost mandatory to build up excitement.

mustardoverlordfragile gave really good advice, but I feel there's one thing that needs to be added:in the modern hl "metagame", the majority of the top teams have shifted away from a super heavy-centric style to a more demo-centric one, with more heals towards the scout and pyro as well. the heavy is still the best class at protecting the medic, but his speed means it's really hard to use him aggressively in ubers, so in more aggressive situations medics typically lead with demos (and sometimes scouts or even pyros depending on the situation) and use the heavy as kind of an anchor to protect him post-ubertl;dr mad healz to the demo
I would imagine heavy and demoman stick together, so the demoman can push with heavy support and then the demoman can fall back on the heavy when needed. That's ridiculously good, haha. But yeah, I have played hl only a few times, so I'm sure mustard is right.
I really enjoy Final Fight and Streets of Rage playthroughs, even though speedruns for beat 'em up games get a little redundant.
