I've decided that I'll be covering Invite again for TFTV in ESEA S18. That being said, I want this season to be what I wanted last season, with player interviews (either in or separate from the Power Rankings) and other articles / stuff. So over the next couple of days I'll be adding a lot of you guys (I'd like around 3 players from each team) to get the info like final rosters, etc. for a Season Preview (for reference, old previews: http://teamfortress.tv/thread/19004/esea-invite-season-17-preview/?page=1). I won't bug you guys that often, but I do want to establish a network with you guys to bring better articles for the community.
Edit: If you don't want to be added / a part of this, please post here or something I guess, so I don't go in blindly adding people.
More details on planned pieces that will be separate from the Power Rankings and Roster Updates to come, once I figure everything out. Thanks, and here's to a good season of Invite in S18.
I thought Japanifest Destiny and Goldman Sachs were the only remaining teams unless there's a hijack happening I'm not aware of.
So Killing said the decision would be made close to the deadline. I'm expecting something soon..
GeknaiirIdk I've been seeing a bunch of IM teams getting slammed by cloudmaker's team, who didn't even get moved.
They didn't get moved up because they didn't win any playoff matches last season and Killing is supposedly against manually moving up teams / doesn't want to do it every season even though the last time he did so was S9 or something.
7:29 PM - Tery_*iS: Hey Killing, what's the status on IM? What's the minimum number of teams we need?
7:30 PM - Killing in the Name #esea: There's no minimum number
7:30 PM - Killing in the Name #esea: We'll evaluate once reg is about to close
7:30 PM - Killing in the Name #esea: and make a decision
7:31 PM - Tery_*iS: Would you / the higher ups be opposed to a 12 team IM? Or is that all just for evaluations.
7:32 PM - Killing in the Name #esea: 12 would be really risky
Okay so we have 7/8 teams fully paid. American Jerks and Sparkle Bunnies brings that to 9/10. If Goldman Sachs is revived we'd still need at least 2 more teams / hijacks in the next 24 hours to even have a chance.
Edit: Actually didn't Killing say he needed 16 teams at minimum?
I guess IM is a lot more shaky now if ddddddddd is dying. Dunno if Japanifest, Sachs, Pinoy, and Guado is enough.
Also Meat Market is suspiciously absent from this poll IMO.
KillingThe Open numbers are looking really good for S18 so we've decided to go ahead with Invite S18. IM is currently looking a bit weak but there is still time to work on it. If there are far too few teams, we might have to axe it for this season. That decision will be made closer to the deadline. Otherwise, great job community, here's to another 18 seasons.
Are you willing to move up Guado Glories and Pinoy Boys if that will satisfy the amount of teams required to keep IM for next season?
So Open has 31 paid teams as of current, which mirrors S16's team count. Open should be okay. The question is the decision(s) on IM.
Honestly Killing, when was the last time you manually moved up a team that wasn't already qualified for promotion from Open to IM? I've been playing ESEA since S11 and I can't seem to recall a single instance of this. The most / weirdest I've seen was S12 where Wutang Finanical and Sunday Funday had to play a tiebreaker game to see who would get 16th seed in playoffs.
I ask this since there are 3 more potential IM teams. Gravegun's roster has been discussed a few times already, and Pinoy Boys and Guado Glories both have "viable" rosters to be used in IM if you would move them up.
There are 9 fully paid teams so far (good job!).
Kev said he'll be using the Japanifest Destiny roster.
Meat Market, Sparkle Bunnies, and American Jerks will be paid up (RIGHT?).
ddddddd and the Champagne and Cocaine roster too.
That's 15 teams alone, excluding any potential hijacks from Guado Glories and or Pinoy Boys.
It's just a matter of paying up now. It's not a problem with teams.
4812622An alternative to killing Invite would be shrinking it back to 8 or 9 teams and keeping Yomies and/or Cisco in IM.
What do you mean "shrinking it back to 8 or 9"? Invite has been 9 teams for the past few seasons.
ComangliaWell I paid up there better be a league since I'm not playing anyway. #backup
Lewis can join someone's roster that has 5 paid in the meantime if necessary.
