Unpopular opinion: Buffing medic makes the game more stalematey because medic picks/forces are beginning to be the only reason to push anymore. Nerfing medic wouldn't be an ideal option either, as medic already is the least played class and could make medic unfun to play . I don't really have a solution for this problem.

Dig_Doug6s bans unlocks because they hate change, balance has little or nothing to do with it.

This was actually true in EU before i46 happened to a certain extent. I mean obviously some unlocks were broken (gunslinger etc..) so you are wrong but even now popular unlocks like boston basher, equalizer and gunboats were banned in EU despite them being allowed in NA. Obviously balance wasn't the issue to ban those, but rather that they changed the game a lot and the game was fun as it is. Don't fix what isn't broken, right?

You may call that era stale or boring, but for me and many others TF2 was fun. ETF2L actually tried to introduce some unlocks (mainly Equalizer, Bonk and pre-nerf Sandvich) in Season 9, but Prem teams protested against it and stopped playing, forcing ETF2L to return to the old whitelist back in Season 10. We could have adapted but it would have taken time to completely adjust to the changes so why bother? It's not like there is a money incentive to play an inferior game (in their minds at least).

I think the alienation of new people by banning weapons was the biggest reason why unlocks were being introduced and now that EU lost to NA very hard in i46 nailed the coffin for vanilla ruleset, which was now regarded as inferior. Now unlocks like gunboats and equalizer are standard unlocks in our game but in all honesty I would still play this game if no unlocks were allowed.

tl;dr: People in EU used to hate change, but nowadays this is definitely not the case.

IceNoob88No the damage nerf was the old nerf, with abysmal damage on stickies and which got reverted, and the radius is the current one

Would the smaller blast radius on start make it do less damage or just no damage at all (if you are out of range)? I'm still pretty sure 2 stickies which do damage don't kill a scout anymore so I'm intrigued now.

stickies that touch the world have full radius (regardless of the radius ramp-up). the only part of the nerf that affects close range stickies is the change to make their radius match rockets which was pretty minor iirc

Wasn't the blast radius nerf the old nerf, which was reverted and then they came up with the damage nerf what I explained about? I remember it being absolutely cancerous to do long range stickies during that time.

About the demo nerf specifcally:

2 freshly laid stickies don't kill a scout anymore, because the demonerf made the stickies do less damage until a certain timespan had past (maybe 2 secs not sure). So if a scout rushes you, it's better to try for sticky+pipe combo, which is more unreliable. Either way, this made the scout much for dangerous and kinda forced demo to go to the pocket role unless you are very good. But scouts have become godlike as well, so being a good demo doesn't cut it as much as it did before.

Better to go for traps instead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
