Sorry for the negativity but I don't understand why valve chose to go this way. Even a game like Magic the gathering restricts cards from competition because they are too powerful or game breaking. And the game-makers are the same who organize tournaments, so because they understand their own game they can ban their own weapons.
The TF2 devs need to do their homework.

the YUD jump yeah.
never seen a tutorial on how to do it either. But you really should never try it. When you come out of house the enemy demo might just kill you, and he will deff call you so the pocket and med will be ready for you when you land on diagonal.

Always crouchjump?

Expanding on #3, if you always crouch jump you will always surf any damage, including scattergun/minigun etc. In a fight when you have the advantage by staying close you don't want to be knocked back too much by enemy shots.
