#16 Strategies in TF2 General Discussion

These sound like tactics, yeah.

Strategies are much more broad. Your strategy would sound more like this: be flexible enough to adapt to every opposing team's strategy, and study those teams' playstyles to stay one step ahead.

Or alternatively: Don't worry about flexibility, because our strength lies in impeccable aim and positioning, so keep honing those.

I know Shade will take great video. It's probably going to be mainly up to him to talk to an editor and get the rights to all the streamed content and i49 photos/videos.

Yeah, when we decided our direction was not going to be "30-minute frag vid," we released the STVs.

Paypal link isn't working for me, but maybe it's because I'm stuck on ie7 at work. Will try when I get home!

#301 No plans that I've heard of. The most I'll do is shitty vlogs with Google Glass or a Sony thing.

It's not just June with a problem. June is the one raising an issue in the least constructive and most vocal way, but several people have expressed concern over the VHX paywall. I've kicked off a discussion about it within eXtv this morning so we should hopefully have something by the end of the day.

Defy - true. There is TF2 action in the grand finals but it's much more interview- and player-focused.

Renhet's reason for disagreeing has more to do with her experience with shitty art customers, I think.

I do recall wanting to have the movie released before January of this year. I had no clue exactly how much work Luke would have to do.

Communication is always one of the toughest things to do well.

I was focused this week on just making sure that we picked a release date and communicated that date ASAP, because I knew it would be a huge relief to everyone just to know that it was all falling into place. I do appreciate your feedback dellort. Negative feedback is useful as long as it's constructive, which yours is.

I guess I am one of those who is perfectly happy to have his content via YouTube, so you're right about perspective. Like you, I find most pay-for-premium service to be distasteful. In my head, I'm not really treating a 50fps download like it's "premium" because I personally wouldn't be able to tell the difference. But you do have a good point.

Well I'm a bit confused at the notion that we're pretending anything, or trying to slip anything under the table. Luke and the rest of eXtv volunteered our time for this project. A few days ago, we saw the opportunity to add an optional price tag, so we did.

Did we consider a donation button? I don't think I did. You'd have to ask Luke or eXtine whether the thought hit their minds. Would it have been a good idea? Sure. As it stands now, it seems like most people here don't have a problem with the way it's currently going, but I'll keep reading the thread to see if it becomes more an issue.

As for the length, I often passed emails back and forth with Luke on cutting bits out. Wanted to make each scene succinct and punchy, without too much irrelevant stuff.

In the end, if it seems shady to offer the 50fps version for a $5 contribution, then I apologize. It certainly wasn't anyone's intent to pull a fast one. The sinister motive being ascribed to this move has caught me completely by surprise, which is why I've seemed defensive.

I'm just using the Wikipedia definition of flamebait. Someone correct me if I'm misusing the word.

I don't speak for eXtine or Luke, but when the suggestion was made a few days ago to put down a payment option, I was all for it. It gives an easy, direct way for anyone who wants to support the production to donate. Not wanting to support the production isn't something anyone should look down on, either - we are indeed offering the final product for free on YouTube. The only difference between the two will be release day and framerate. If either of those differences is cause for concern, as it seems they may be for gr8stalin, then by all means tell us. It's like I said before - if the majority of the most loyal TF2 fans think we're doing this the wrong way, we can probably still change it.

So far, it doesn't seem like a majority. It seems like one person with no vested interest in the subject (June) wandering into a thread just to sperg.
