#2 Oni LFT Demo in Recruitment (looking for team)

This guy's blessed. He had a lot of potential back when he played, but didn't have the time to really pursue. He's got real dedication and WILL put in the work. Give my boy a go.

#22 My dm is literally deteriorating in Q/A Help

Idk why no one is mentioning it but with inconsistencies like this, one of the best things you can actually do is improve your decision-making, create favourable engagements for yourself and so on. It wouldn't be surprising if the way you take fights is literally making it harder on yourself to win them, especially if you're getting frustrated with your current performance and stray from your fundamentals. Set yourself up to hit shots, and it will be a lot easier, and you can just grind the rest out through training mods.

Summarized, observe the fights you take and how you take them, including your mouse movements and terrain advantage. Watching other players and looking at what they do and where they are in fights is surprisingly helpful. If you're gonna demo review, I'd recommend watching more demos of better players than of your own, as you'll quickly notice the same, repeated mistakes in your own demos if you excessively watch them. Look past the nice shots and focus on the fight as a whole.

#4 skag lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

I'm surprised he's playin' medic but my lord is skag a demon. He wasn't the most active commer when I played with him but I'm sure that he'll be able to say the expected stuff for a med well enough. He's always had good mechanics which will surely transfer over, and if medic is really his thing he'll get good fast. Good luck, buddy!

#28 Grape Juice LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

He's understanding the concept of staying alive better and makin' steady improvements in his general gameplay. You can expect decent communication (communicates what he wants to do individually, does well to remind with info that people might forget, and does well to say what he sees), willingness to take the time and put the effort into working with your team and discussing post-scrims/match about what happened/what could be done, etc.

Also not an emo tilter who'll kill your team or anything so no need to fear for security in that regard. He can probably play on a team that works their way up to mid-ish IM/is mid-ish IM and develop his play a lot, though he's unlikely to be a star player for the time being. Would recommend.

#12 edward lft s28 in Recruitment (looking for team)

Honestly, though. Edward's got some solid mechanics, though you shouldn't expect him to be a very active caller, and would work better on flank roles. He's not the best at changing what he does to fit what might be needed, and doesn't give much input as to what goes wrong (in my experience). He provides a positive attitude, though, and that makes him really fun to play and hang out with, being able to lift up the atmosphere when things aren't going too great. I don't know if you can expect to work up to invite with him, but you can expect to have a good time if you pick him up.

#46 Why do all the top soldiers use the original? in Q/A Help

What people haven't really mentioned in this thread (unless I missed something) is that there are also tighter angles/fights you can take with an original with certain corners, like if you play from porch/haunter into house with the original you're a lot less likely to get juggled in or caught out as you don't have to fully expose yourself to fire a rocket inside. In regards to fights, something like contesting bottom left against a roamer on gully mid would be a good example, as again you're less exposed and you won't shoot yourself as you back off around the corner. Basically any angle where you need to peek to the left of a corner or wall is slightly safer with the original, unless you're an odd one using left handed stock.

#28 Asking about Soldier in DM in TF2 General Discussion

One of the things that I really liked in DM is that it's very easy to learn habits or skills that you'd want to develop in-game. There are a few things that I would recommend which might help, as I see a lot of people mess up in-game when it comes to spam, taking time with rockets, etc.

When bombing, aiming for head rockets on targets so they can't surf away.
Playing mid-range and trying to maximize your rockets.
If you panic when scouts are jumping around, learn how to pace yourself and hold your rockets to hit them when they're about to land and so on.
Though I think most people wouldn't agree with me on this, there's a lot of times when I see soldiers in general holding high-ground and completely beefing their spam in-game, so I think that it's a good idea to practice taking high-ground and shooting at people below, timing it around double jumps and taking into account peoples' movement.
As people have also said, learning to shoot walls and roofs (i.e. gullywash mid outside of choke) instead of the floor is also something that DM can help you get into the habit of.

Aside from that, just playing DM normally and going for directs and yadda yadda is cool too. I did all of the stuff I mentioned and I had fast improvements, and especially got a lot better at fighting scouts. Just try to have goals in mind when playing training mods and scrims and stuff, and you'll improve fast.

#7 Who are you supposed to build with? in TF2 General Discussion

on holds with disad you build with scout for sure so your soldiers can be forward spamming
escape plan building is generally done if you're the only person w/ the med while there's some downtime
your soldier can also arrow build w/ gunboats fairly effectively if he gets against a wall, crouches and shoots below himself, then shoots himself back at the ground off the wall. a bit better w/ cow mangler because ammo and all but yeah

generally in holding situations you'll wanna build with the scout over the soldier imo unless you're arrow building, more overall health and soldiers hold down chokey areas well and stuff
