#2163 PC Build Thread in Hardware
SetsulYou picked the 650W, not me. ;-)
I've suggested two 550W, should still be enough even with the big Vega.
850 Pro now, not 850 Evo?

Yeah I was agreeing with you, and Imeant Evo :p

on one hand I'm kindof salty that they aren't releasing the R5 lineup until q2 but I'm also glad because I won't have to deal with all that early adopter bs that comes with buying new stuff on launch day.

#2159 PC Build Thread in Hardware

I might get another stick if benches show a big difference, but I'd rather spend the 120$ or whatever RAM costs now for an SSD. I'll probably get the 850 Pro and that seasonic instead, I don't think 600w would be necessary for just a 1600x and a RX 480. The 480 might change depending on the Vega announcement on the 28th

#2156 PC Build Thread in Hardware

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wxcXd6
My "future" Ryzen 1600x build, whenever it comes out, and a few things will probably change until then. I bought the RAM, cpu cooler, case and a few case fans from a friend for cheap, right now I'm just thinking about an SSD.

Crucial MX300 275GB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IAGSD5O
or
Samsung 850 250GB EVO https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OAJ412U
or
SanDisk SSD Plus 240GB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F9G43WU

the SanDisk is like 20$ cheaper, is the perfomance/10-35GB worth it in the end? planning on just using it as a boot drive and a few games, not really looking for anything crazy.

#15 TF2 update for 2/14/17 in TF2 General Discussion
cnsmAnyone know what the new survey questions are?

If you don't play competitive mode regularly, please select one of the following:

  • I don't enjoy the 6v6
  • I'm concerned about balanced matches.
  • Matchmaking times are too long.
  • There is too much pressure to do well.
  • None of the above.
  • I play Competitive Mode regularly.

If you don't play casual mode regularly, please select one of the following:

  • I prefer the 6v6 format.
  • I'm concerned about balanced matches.
  • It doesn't track my skill over time.
  • The games aren't taken seriously.
  • None of the above.
  • I play Casual Mode regularly.

#8 TF2 update for 2/14/17 in TF2 General Discussion
sibbyowlcometyo how do you get these so fast

Join the #steamdb-announce IRC and set a notification in your IRC client for whenever 440 is mentioned.

That will notify you whenever the app is updated. You'll also want to be in the HLDS mailing list so you can get the changelog.

#12 Suggestions for Good Headsets. in Hardware
smitty_if you want something really cheap and don't mind looking like a dork you can get the fallout steelseries siberia 350 headset from the bethesda store for like 60 dollars right now http://store.bethsoft.com/vault-111-steelseries-siberia-headset

I have not used any of the siberia headsets but from the pictures it looks like those are open backs, not closed like OP specified.

#10 Suggestions for Good Headsets. in Hardware

Beyerdynamic DT770. The M50x's have been outshined by other headphones with similar price points. The DT770s, 598cs, and even the m40x's have "better" sound signatures as far as closed backs go. Personally I would only go with the m50x's if you need the portability, the folding and rotating cups are very nice. The 598cs and the DTT770's aren't portable at all, but they're fairly durable.

Some things to compare:
The DT770s don't have a removable cable like the m50x's, or the 598cs.
The DT770s are going to be harder to drive, unless you get the 32ohm version(I can recommend the 80ohm but it's all preference)
The m50x's, and the 598cs both have removable cables, and there are attachment boom mics you can even get, instead of a modmic.

Personally I'm using a pair of 598cs, with a small Sony electret mic clipped to my shirt. I wouldn't call the newer 598cs bass head cans, but theyre definitely more bass-y than the normal 598s. Personally for you I'd go for the DT770 32ohms. There's also the V-moda M100 which are very good, but are a bit out of your price range.

#198 The State of TF2, Post-Valve Meetings in TF2 General Discussion
EnterimSorry if this is off-topic (as the multi-million dollar TF2 item economy more than likely means we won't get a source 2 port any time soon) but could you point me to the source of that image? I am very intrigued...

Leak is around 3 years old, now:

Screwballgarrappachc It's just extremely difficult to maintain the code. How hard would it be for them to scrap the whole thing, port the resources over to source 2, and start from scratch like they did with DOTA 2?

Do you remember how buggy and horrid the source 2 launch was for dota?

Also, it's already been leaked that they pretty much have ported a lot of their games to source 2.

I can't imagine they've done anything beyond the "click port button and hope it works".

#6 spotify premium in Off Topic

I use spotify premium as well, really good service. The app is a bit shitty but it's tolerable. if you have a large offline collection of music already, consider google play music. you can upload 50k of your own songs and stream them anywhere (you can also do this free now)

#17 Earbuds under $50 in Hardware

just remember earpods have literally no sound isolation. i highly recommend the piston 3's or the m6 pros over the earpods any day
