not true 30-40C is not hot at all.

dude this shit happened to me with my new computer. i think it has something to do with data execution prevention error. try typing this into command prompt: "C:\Program Files\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe" /repair
everything after the colon including quotation marks should fix it. if not i don't know.
edit: i'm not actually sure if windows 8 even has DEP but it's worth a shot :\

my cpu does this too try turning multi-core rendering off my fps stays the same and my fan speed is much quieter.
if this isn't it then try and check if theres a cool n' quiet mode for your fans or w/e if there is put that on.

wafflebI'm really struggling to understand why a small bit of aim assist is detrimental to a game where you are using a peripheral inferior to a keyboard/mouse
it destroys the purpose of using a controller to aim at people if you have something already doing it for you. it's like NASCAR with an auto-pilot.

I'm sure if you sat down and played a pug or a scrim you'd probably have a good time
do they even have pugs or scrims LOL i think they just practice their quickscopes and dolphin dives. no strat talks. nothing. It's not that the game is bad it's just their competitive scene is much more dumbed down compared to other games. Theres not much to the game when it comes down to strategy. it's like trying to make a competitive sport out of a game of catch.

Anyone hating on this, seriously, open your mind a little. If the game has such a "low skill cap" you should go enter the next tournament and win $400k.
this has nothing to do with tf2. we're expressing our opinions and who would want to get money and exposure to a garbage game like this anyway? i'd rather help out the tf2 scene than join this.

I had a dream once where i was at school coming out of 4th and my friend comes up to me with a glock and told me to hold it for him, im like yeah sure man its cool. So i was like standing around and i accidently shot the glock even though in the dream im pretty sure i wasnt even touching it, so i guess i didnt shoot it but everyone froze, like literally stopped moving, no blinking or anything and i grabbed the gun, threw it as far as i could and woke up
i dont know why i think i could share my wild dream but i did

in your TF folder there should be a particles folder put it in there. if there isn't a particles folder make a new folder named particles and put it in there.

any recommendations on parts for a new desktop?

bear ik he has a 2k budget but you don't need anything more than 1200 to play all modern games on max settings with good fps. no need for this sli and crossfire shit it only causes microstuttering and other complications. just get a fast single gpu and btw gpu doesn't really matter for tf2 i have the shittiest gpu possible and an okay cpu so i get above 100 frames normally.
