UltrazSo is it going to work alot better than lightboost?
Lightboost is a different feature entirely. Lightboost makes the screen go to black inbetween frames as a way of reducing the blurring effect you get when transitioning from one frame to another.
G-Sync makes the monitor display an entire frame every time the gpu outputs one rather than at the default timing of the monitor.

Most of the "play with a lower resolution" thing comes from CRTs where you could get a higher refresh rate at lower resolutions. That doesn't work on LCD displays that most monitors today use.
Personally I've never gotten that great of an FPS increase from lowering my resolution, but if it works for you, I would say to go for it.
