#13 How to you get people to pay RGL fees? in TF2 General Discussion

I'm very interested in seeing what EU players would think about introducing league fees into ETF2L - maybe a poll would be good? I agree with Lupus here in that it will insentivise better competition and make EU a stronger region.

League fees need to be used in a way that they benefit a regular player. Some of the money could go to top level talent, But as Gazy has said, it wouldn't be very popular to just give money to high level talent + sandbaggers and keep the league as it is.

I believe that using league fees to create new services (Building tools like https://ozfstats.com, updating API, etc) or to create events (ETF2L Pugs/LANs/Cups etc) would be the way to implement league fees positively. Then you would also be able to boost winnings of high level talent.

There is of course some negatives to implementing league fees (sandbagging first comes to mind), but I think that if league fees are used positively they could improve the scene in EU and create a better comp TF2 experience.

#11 Revive pugs in TF2 General Discussion

There's not many medics. This means that A pugs don't start quickly or start with non med players and that B pugs often just fizzle out because of this. Not sure how you would fix that though.

There also should be some formal rules put in place about captaining, offclassing limits (if any), communication, etc. This would enable pugs run smoother and a better experience to be created imo.

#6 tips for teaching a future ultiduo med/comp med? in TF2 General Discussion

Teach him how to count uber and explain uber advantage and disadvantage (this array7 vid is decent at explaining uber count https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhEyIqGPhPg)
Tell him to tilt his camera slightly up so he can see bombing soldiers
Teach him common map callouts (a decent resource would be the map pages on comp.tf, process for example: https://www.comp.tf/wiki/Process)
Try to explain crit heals (he just needs to know if someone calls crit heals, then try heal them)
Try to explain what surfing is (both explosive surfing and bullet surfing)

Explaining all of this stuff at once may be overwhelming, so I'd recommend telling him one concept at a time then giving some time so he can learn one thing then move onto the next. However just playing the game and picking up information from teammates will work just fine. (i.e you can learn about callouts from listening to your team talk).

EDIT: just keep playing pubs and random modes and have fun whilst he can organically learn what each of the classes generally want to do and how they function.

#1 Unifed Ruleset Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

After the fullerton LAN and trying out the 3min round timer and the recent unity cup hosted by kaidus that had the 5min round timer, what are peoples thoughts on the timer changes? - was it more fun to play as a competitor/was it better to watch as a spectator. What about implenting a similar ruleset into the next seasons of RGL or ETF2L?

Obviously, it would be a drastic change to the game for both regions, and I think that smaller changes like deciding on win limit or win difference are more achivable, than making a giant leap of faith. But what is the consensus on this new format?

#25 FACEIT Competitive Sixes Beta Test Weekend in TF2 General Discussion

The closed queue of 6s that occurred - at least in EU - was mainly good, since pugs were high quality and everyone tried to win because of the points. Everyone would join voice and try to win, it was locked to anyone who was mid+ so the games were very high quality with most games being filled with prem/d1/d2 players.

But when the system got pushed into open queue, it was a trainwreck for lots of players. The system got really bad for mainly those mid and below, though some higher level players got affected too. This was because for the mid level faceit ranks (mostly <7 and below, sometimes higher ranks) got matched up with pubbers who ran pyro/heavy/engie to mid and didn't join voice even when players tried to send discord links in the faceit browser chat.

There was some bandage fixes of giving players elo adjustements in the discord and matchmaking changes, but the damage was already done. There was mass negative criticism due to the awful pugs and after the testing ladders finished + some surveys, the whole of faceit 6s matchmaking was dropped into limbo.

Hopefully, Sigafoo and the team at faceit are able to use the feedback provided from these testing periods to create a fun 6s matchmaking platform. But the future doesn't look too bright as of now.

TL:DR faceit has been avoiding 6s and focussing on prolander because of the massive negativity that occurred during the 6s open queue test.

#10 Making a mix server sucks and I suck pls help in Off Topic

The biggest issue with rahmixes is the lack of feedback that the average player can give, it feels like when a change is made it was because prem/d1 players got annoyed at something or you personally wanted something changed/removed.

This wouldn’t be a problem, but rahmixes is the ONLY place to play decent pugs in EU currently. Meaning that if a change occurs and you don’t like it, You just have to suck it up and deal with it. This leads to frustration and people getting angry.

Most players don’t hate you, but since you are (literally) the face of this huge platform people end up directing their frustrations with rahmixes at you.

On the whole, even though I don't agree with every decision that has been made on the server. I think that you've done a good job at providing a quality pugging platform, I do enjoy rahmixes and I hope that it can be sucessful in the future.

nerf arrows so if you are in combat with another player (took player damage in the past 0.5 seconds or something like that) and you get healed by an arrow it heals less.
