#46 Competitive CTF concept - thoughts? in Map Discussion

A map was created like this called ctf_converge_b3 where you the intel could be picked up at mid after a delay and would have to be capped next to the enemy's spawn room; played like 5cp in some ways but with the CTF gamemode

http://tf2.wireplay.co.uk/9v9/downloadmap.php?mid=49

I believe it was played in highlander a couple of times in the wireplay league.

#4 monitors beside xl2420t? in Hardware

If you mess around with color temperatures, contrast, gamma etc; then the colors on TN panels are fine enough.

What I don't like in particular with the BenQ gaming monitors are how the black equaliser feature messes with parts of a map which arn't particuarly dark sometimes.

Personally I think the Asus monitor is better bang for your buck unless you need the huge amount of ways you can rotate a BenQ monitor.

#6 AMD CPU and TF2 in Hardware

Just for reference I have a R6850HD with i5-2500k @ 4.2 and get consistant 180fps with dx9 configs.

Your processor is the bottleneck here.

I usually recommend building your own PC or buying a fairly decent pre-built one and purchase a seperate graphics card.

#8 ESEA Map of the week preview: Week 4 cp_metalworks in TF2 General Discussion

As a map people are not familiar with do you think dominant teams with raw DM ability will shine on it or teams that take the time to learn the map?

#70 The 120Hz Monitor Thread in Hardware

#69 I'm thinking about getting this monitor due to its attractive price point.
Apparently the screen tearing issues were introduced with a bad batch and any Planar brought monitor seems to be fine now. I will contact Hanns G to see whether they are aware of the issue and whether they applied the same firmware fix and post back.

#11 New matchmaking site similar to Tf2lobby in TF2 General Discussion

As teamfortress.tv is supposed to be the new hub for all things competitive tf2 there have been suggestions that it should host a lobby page similar to tf2lobby

Please consider this when developing your site as it is easier to grow the scene when you only have to a point a person to one site instead of several.

If you speak to enigma then i'm sure he will work with you to integrate the site into this one or at least host a link at the top navigation bar.

#22 120Hz CRT vs. 120Hz LCD in Hardware

Well thanks for the advice
I can get some pretty cheap flat screen CRT's for £10 on ebay that do 140Hz @ 1024x768 the only problem is most people won't ship it/ collection only.

I'm more compelled to go with the LCD though even though desk room wasn't a issue plus it uses the same resolution I am on now.

The picture comparison was from tomshardware.com I believe.
