L4D2 is a much better optimized game than TF2 is, you should be able to use most of the same launch options, and I dunno about fps configs, but I can run it on max settings on my laptop, so if your computer is at least halfway decent you shouldn't have any need for a fps config.

Reinstalled ray's hud, was able to start up and run my own game without any problems.
